#80 hard to remove ... heres my story

Well after taking yalerd and Mike Phillips suggestions on removing swirls with pc and #80 from a previous post:

I am now having trouble getting the m80 removed after working it with the pc. However, I do see much better results with the swirls (once I can finally get the m80 removed).

I am working inside (out of the sun) on a cool surface. However, the temp is 80 degrees with high humidity (74%). I am also doing small sections and using the 1/4 inch wide ring of m80 product about 1 inch in from the outside of pad.

So if it is not the temp/humidity would I want to work the m80 a little longer or less time.

Is the product still a little creamy colored when you stop? You might be stopping a tad too soon.

How long are you working the M80? If you cover a 2' x 2' area going side to side, then up and down, then again side to side and once more up and down (overlapping each pass by 50% and moving the machine slowly over the paint, machine set to speed 5 and adequate downward pressure) then M80 should have had sufficient time to break down and be very easy to remove.

Trying to remove too early can result in slightly more difficult removal, and the humidity you're experiencing should actually extend your work time. Keep going with the M80 until it's almost translucent on the paint, but not so long that it goes dry either.

It sounds like there could be two possible culprits: too much product for the area, or you are letting it sit and dry for too long.

Polish does NOT need to dry. Do one SMALL section and IMMEDIATELY remove it. This makes it tons easier...it's easy to get carried away polishing and do the whole side of the car, but by that point the product is WAY too dried to the paint

I'm almost positive you're using too much and not even close to breaking it down... you should make at least 6-7 passes, from my experience, with #80 on a 2'x2' area

thanks for the replies...I am going to go back to the garage and give a go at it here again. Will try using less m80 and working it in better. I have been doing one spot and then wiping off right away. Thanks for the tips and I will update you on my progress.

Also, make sure to keep your pad clean. This helps too.

I agree. When I first started using M80 with the PC I was not letting it break down long enough. Once I dialed in my technique it now comes off with ease.

Good MF towels help too!
