Looked through my Meguiar's Brilliant Solutions catalog collection and the oldest one I can find dates back to 1995 and shows the Porter Cable Polisher in the ad copy.

My 1996 Brilliant Solutions catalog shows both a Porter Cable DA Polisher with the Porter Cable name on it and a picture of the Porter Cable DA Polisher with the Meguiar's name on it.

So it's certain that Meguiar's had introduced the DA Polisher to the enthusiasts market in 1995

It's possible we introduced it before 1995 but so far I can't find any documentation for it in my collection, that doesn't mean we didn't do it it just means that's as far back as my Brilliant Solutions catalog goes.

I have a 1989 and a 1990 Consumer Catalog on my desk and think I have some catalogs from 1988 when I first started working for the company.

Don't think I have anything earlier than this however.

Here's some pictures of my oldest catalogs... am trying to find out if there's any older catalogs than this...

The one on the left is from 1995 and the one on the right is from 1996, the catalog from 1995 documents Meguiar's introducing the G100 at least 13 years ago and before this we were showing people in the Professional Trade how to use air powered DA Sanders to polish paint by using our W5500 Foam Polishing Pad, which if you look closely is the actual pad on the Porter Cable unit pictured below, not a W-8006 on a W64 DA Backing Plate.

The lettering is kind of fuzzy but you can make out that it says Porter Cable

Does anyone reading this have an older Brilliant Solutions Catalog?

Back in 1991 when I started detailing for a small used car dealer Meguiar's had a Distribution center and a Training Center in Carlisle PA. It was managed by Wayne Alfrey , Larry Alfrey his son and Bill Devoe. The 1st class I went in Carlisle Larry showed us what polishing with a DA could do. I still have the adpt.to fit the DA and the 6" version of the W1000 they gave out in class and use it today.

I threw away so many of those old catalogs over the years. Let me dig around the garage and look for old meguiars stuff.

I did find a vhs tape on how to use Medallion. Is that rare?

It was like close to 50 bucks so I wasn't really complaining about it since I got the DA for free and basically paid 50 bucks for maintenance guy also hook me up with the wrench to take the BP off lol

My garage is located beneath my deck so what I'm going to do is buy tarps from home depot and basically make temporary walls with anchored bottoms so it doesn't move around as much. My water line has both hot and cold water so I just make it warm so the water doesn't freezes. Talk about being ghetto yes.....but I live to improvise and use what I got to work with.

OK. So I found the original Meguiar's receipt for the "Concours Collection" which included the G100. It's dated 3/15/1995. So indeed the PC is really nearly 14 years old.

I ordered this from a 1994 Holiday Catalog.

wow and the best part about your g100 is that it's 14 yrs old and still kicking.

Not just that it's still kicking but I was detailing cars as a sideline during all that time, just retiring the business this year and must have done 3000 details in that time frame. With proper maintenance, the PC is one tough tool.
