  • Surprised to see a meguiar's G100 at my work

Like what the title says I was cleaning up my work area and came across a meguiar's G100 Buffer. I was really excited to try this machine out until after I plug it in the thing doesn't work. Does meguiar's sell replacement parts to fix it?

Meguiar's doesn't but the G100 was a re badged Porter Cable Dual Action Polisher so parts are available for it from Porter Cable.

Maybe contact Customer Care and check to see if there's any warranty for this tool? Do you know who originally purchased it through your company?

Unless he is able to repair the tool himself with the ordered parts, wouldn't buying a G110 instead make more sense? I just have to think after parts and labor, the repair bill will be close to the same as a new polisher.

I am sure Mike will post in but some of the older Meguiar's units had a life time warranty, maybe it's one. If not look for a local Porter Cable P/C service center or if your ever in the Harrisburg area I am 35 min south west of Harrisburg and would be glad to look at it for you. I have 11 years exp. on Milwaukee, B&D, PC & just about anything else electro-mechanical .

For the slightest clue....the DA buffer looks real dirty and I'm trying to ask my supervisor if I could have it since it's broken. Like what they say one man's trash is another man's treasure

It probably would not be to terribly expensive to repair. Good luck with it.

It could be something as simple as a set of brushes.

Good point, that could be true. I just know sometimes when it comes to fixing tools, the parts and labor combined sometimes come almost to the price of the tool but I would depend on what is wrong with the tool.

Brushes, switch, broken wire, depends on what it's doing (or not).

My G100 is 12 years old. I have it routinely serviced by a lifelong friend who runs an ACE hardware store (authorized PC repair center). Besides cleaning and lubrication, the only things this unit ever needed was a couple sets of brushes and a new power cable. I'd take it to an ACE store and see if they can give you an estimate. If yours is not running I suspect it is the brushes or the power cord.

they had the g100 12 years ago? i thought it was just something recent. surely it hasnt taken the 12years for the g100 to reach overseas shores such as australia!

Some of the G100's were sold with a lifetime warranty, you'll need to call Customer Care at 1-800-347-5700 and check with them. It's likely as others have said, a broken cord or worn brushes, both can be fixed.

No, I mis-represented how old it is. I bought it in 1999 so it is around 9 years old.
