Could use a little help making a decision. Bought a dark metallic red Jeep last year and felt the need to put a coat of "real" wax on it recently instead of relying on the local burshless car wash. Had never heard of Megs before but probably got hooked up with those products thru Amazon (good customer feedback and links). Bought a starter kit from them with primarily GC products and did a 5 step and find myself thoroughly hooked on this detailing stuff.
After watching several videos with the PC and the Megs DA and realizing that my "passion" for working these products in will never approximate what I can do by spending a couple hundred bucks on a machine, I'm trying to evaluate a purchase. Here's what constitutes the basis of my needs for such a machine:
1. I need it for two cars. One is the Jeep I mention above with virtually no swirls and the finish is in pretty good shape. It is a daily driver and garaged at night. It gets California duster treatment every day, washed weekly, and I now HAND WASH Meg's GC wash, grit guard, etc. Intend to use Meg's consumer polish, NXT 2.0 and GC wax couple of times of year.
2. Other car is a black, 2004 Jag X type with minor swirls but otherwise good paint. Intend to detail this car over the July 4 weekend. This is a daily driver and is left ungaraged.
I intend to correct/maintain these cars on a weekly basis with monthly sealant/wax application and periodic deep detail about every three months.
In looking at the market, I think I don't need the FLEX. While more power might be nice, for my applications I don't see the need (which means I'll probably be kicking myself a year from now...) Seems to be between the PC and the Megs G110.
There seems to be plusses and minuses for both, but I kind of think that the Megs DA makes the most sense. I think the PC has been adapted from a wood working product and in so doing it opened up the DA use for knuckleheads like me who know just enough to be dangerous and who don't want to burn their paint. I'm aware that a new, improved version of the standard PC is supposed to be out any day now but I don't know that the enhanced power is going to be that big a deal to my intended use.
The Megs unit seems like it was developed using a "clean sheet of paper" for its intended use (cars) and has the right mix of power and applications to allow me to get the job done as described above for the least amount of cost. In other words, the Megs seems like its just enough to get the job done that I need to do.
Would appreciate any thoughts any of you have. I intend to place an order next week.
Thanks.
