  • PC7424/Meg's diminishing abrasive question?

    Hi

I have read somewhere that the original PC/G100 may not be powerful enough to break down the diminishing abrasives in Meg's 9/82/80/83 which means that it may leave micro marring of the surface..is this true? Or does it depend on the car's clearcoat and the pads used??

If using the PC/G100 for a 2 stage process ..would using Megs 205 on a yellow pad (since the abrasives are uniform) be better for correction as opposed to the ones with diminishing abrasives? Of course the last step would be NXT 2.0 on a tan pad.

The car to correct would be a 2009 Honda with Charcoal gray metallic paint.

    thx

Well, yes, the newer products would be better, but the G100 would also be fine with either product.

The bigger difference is that you can put a little more pressure down with the G110, which also helps in defect removal.

      Bingo!

Clearcoat, chemicals, pads, machine, operator skill, etc all play into the final results. What works great on one vehicle may be only so-so, or almost ineffective, on another. For this reason we always advise doing a test spot and giving that spot a very critical evaluation before proceeding with the rest of the vehicle.

As for the PC7424/G100 not having the power to break down the diminishing abrasives in M80 and M83, that should not be an issue at all. For years we taught proper G100 technique using these very products on a variety of finishes, with an equal variety of user skill, and found tremendous success.

Would M205 yield better results on your car than M80 or M83? The answer to that lies in your comment quoted above.

Thanks for the info. Any pointers on using the G100 with what CCS pad color say using it with M205 on a Honda clearcoat?

I know we start with the least aggressive approach first and then change the pad.

If you are using say LC CCS pads will you start with..

Blue, black then white polishing pads..if needed??

Also will I "need" to apply anything else over the M205 for increasing the gloss aside from protection? ie is it necessary to put a glaze on it?

        Thx

I believe the LC CCS pad combo would be White Black Blue.
