  • PC and 105 vs 1000 grit wet sand (pic heavy)

well several months ago i started to repair some of the bigger chips in my hood with sand-able primer and leveling them out. my plan is to paint the hood again (not all of it, but most of it, something like racing stripes) and i wet sanded the entire hood. it has looked like **** since then of course, since its still not painted . so today i went out and wet sanded it again with 800 and then 1000 grit. i have 2000 grit, but couldnt find it . my goal today was to see exactly how bad i could "correct". so i taped off a section and went at it with M105 followed by M205 and then topped with NXT 2.0. now it is NOT 100% but it is a LOT better than i thought was possible. i know now that with my truck (i know different paints are harder maybe) i can wet sand with 2000 or maybe even 3000 and get it to look perfect .

again, i know it is not 100%, but i am still happy with the outcome...tell me what you think

edit* this was a daily driver until i got my scooter, so its a daily rainy driver now lol...that and my work truck. it is outside 24/7 and due to this (and it used to be lifted and often offroad in the mud), there are a TON of "pits" in the paint, not orange peel or chips in the paint, but little pin hole type pits. my ranger doesnt get much attention at all when it comes to detailing, i spend all my detailing on customers cars and my mustang, i feel bad for the ranger

Thanks I used a polishing pad with the 105, I will be giving a meg cutting pad and also a 4" CCS cutting pad and see how it goes. I have tried the 4" cutting pad before and it has left some interesting marks behind on my scooter (so plastic panels). Nothing 205 doesn't fix though . The marks look like what a beer leaves behind on the table, a little ring. I haven't tried the soft buff cutting pad yet though.
