      Hi
My first post but I have had some experience with the GMC
random orbital sander which may be of interest to other
      Australian readers here.

The model I use is the GMC SA516 random orbital sander. The 515 model has one backing plate whereas the 516 has 5" and 6" backing plates which are easily changed.

It is available from Bunnings for $A39.00 .

It has a 515 watt motor which is more than ample for car buffing
use and more than matches the Porter Cable at 410 watts.(110v@3.7amps). It is variable speed with a locking adjuster
      mounted on the grip.

When I purchased the machine I modified it to better suit car use
rather than carpentry use. To achieve this I removed the auxilliary handle , the metal housing and the dust bag that attaches to the metal housing. For safety I replaced the metal housing with a plastic shield made from a cut down 4" plastic
plate. These mods made the machine light enough to use one
      handed.

I use the machine to apply to apply and remove Megs DC Paint
Cleaner, a locally sourced Glaze and NXT.It is best $40.00
      I have ever spent.

      Regards
      Mark

I bought mine about 6 months ago but I have seen them recently at Autobarn, Big W and Bunnings and always under fifty dollars.
Even my local Mitre 10 had them for $46.I cannot understand a price of $160 for a 516 model GMC.

              Hi Mark,
What polishing pads are you using and where did you get them?

I don't think Meguiars Australia supply accessories for Orbital buffers. Might have to get these from the States ;-)

              And MickyD,
What polishing pads did you find to fit the Ozito? (I bought one today .. it's 520 watt and cost $49 with the 3 yr warranty)

you can get the w8006 polishing pads at Autobarn now, they've got a velcro back and fit fine on the Ozito. They're about $30 from memory.

                    Hi Leo 28
I use Meguiars 6 1/2 inch foam finishing pads with the 5" backing plate.
I buy them from the US online ,about $10 US each
                    Regards

sorry to open up an old thread again, but is this the Ozito sander/polisher you guys are talking about?

its $30 at Bunnings, so its a good deal. cant find the GMC 515 anywhere, but this looks exactly the same - will use meguiar's w8006 pads with it too

That looks very similar to the GMC that I have GMC Nleros and I paid less than $50 from Big W.
