  • scratchX question

can I use scratchX on polishing pad and finishing pad to refine medium cutting pad with UC?

another question, if I am using scratchX on medium cutting pad, do i need to use polishing pad or finishing pad to refine the polish?

I am going to start my first DA polishing project this weekend.
    Please give me some pointer.

what to be careful and what not to do.
I have read the thread how to use DA and clean pad on the fly etc.

but still need some great pointers!

    thanks,
    Steve

    Re: scratchX question

Are you sure you need to jump right to UC? (may have been discussed in another thread, but still a big first jump.)

It would be fine to have SwirlX/#205 and UC on your shelf, I wouldnt worry about ScratchX personally.

      Re: scratchX question

I am talking about just if.
I would test scratchX on medium cutting pad first.
but again, it is a 93 VW POLO which had never been polished before.
therefore I was thinking UC to even begin with.

so after UC? do i have to follow up a scratchX with polishing pad?

I would just worry about SwirlX and UC, wouldnt worry about ScratchX.

UC could finish out perfect, or could leave a little marring. Never know until you try.

If it does need followed up, you would want SwirlX on a polishing pad.

Agreed. Of course, do a quick side by side with SwirlX on a polishing pad and a finishing pad. Depending on how your paint reacts, one may well give you a better finish than the other.

            I am new to this.
I have only one of each 5.5 inch medium cutting, polishing and finishing pads. and one of each 4 inch medium cutting, polishing and finishing pads.

I think 1 pad should be enough for a 93 Polo hatch.
I think if I good cleaning on the fly every section.
            It should be fine.
I would other some more pads down the road. But I don't think I would at the moment!
