  • Chevy Tahoe - how many pads?

I received my G110V2 today and it came with 3 pads - 2 yellow and 1 black.

Will these pads be enough to work on a Chevy Tahoe?

How many pads do you guys go through on a detailing session?

Ultimate Compound > Ultimate Polish > NXT Tech Wax

I may also use Scratch X on some areas.

      Thanks!

3-4 yellow pads for the UC.
1 blk pad for ultimate polish and
        1 for NXT wax.

You need to wash the car and use Clay bar then you can proceed to take out any defects such as small scratches and swirls using your Ultimate compound and Yellow pad. When all done use your Ultimate polish with black pad (I prefer green) and follow up with your favorite wax. If this is your first time doing the car please work small area at the time. (2 ft by 2 ft) Don't rush it your rewards will be shown. My 2 cents

Also rewash the vehicle after claying or perhaps an IPA wipedown.

For reference, IPA = isopropyl alcohol.

On a larger car, you will want 3-4 pads for ultimate compound. Once the pad gets too saturated with material it just doesn't do as effective of a job at removing the paint defects. Since the goal is uniform correction over the entire surface, you want to keep your correction with each pass as consistent as possible. Make sure you "clean your pad on the fly" often by running the machine and pad against a terry towel. This will help keep the pad clean while you're working.

I would divide up the car by the number of pads you have and swap out -- if you have 3 pads, use each one for a third of the car...this probably seems pretty obvious. You really only need one pad for waxing, and probably only one or two for polishing. You can always wax by hand too and save yourself a pad
