  • Bought An DA G110V2R Polisher. Need Help to get started ASAP

    Greetings everyone!

Ive been an meguiars fan all my life and i never really used a DA Professional Polisher until now, ive been using an orbital cheap polisher (Yea i know that *****) Im ready to experience the next step of deatailing/polishing.

I Went to walmart and i saw alot of these meguiars detailing products and low behold i saw the polisher in person without having to order one online and i grabbed the last one and saw all these other polishing stuff, Im waiting to hear from you guys before i purchase all these stuff i need to get started. Keep in mind i only have the polisher at the moment, no pads, nothing. But i have all these other Simple Meguiars stuff but NO LIQUID Wax or anything else like that.

First, My dad wanted me to see if i could take all these nasty cowebs and scratches off his 98 Tahoe. In my mind i couldnt remove that with my hand or an cheap orbital polisher. So I would need to get started with the new one.

I Know it needs some washing first and some clay bar to begin with.

2nd, My Moms Toyota 4Runner has some oxidation and cowebs, probably would use the same thing.

    Pics Attached.

    Thanks!

If I had to guess as to what you'd want to use to clean that up:

    1) Wash
    2) Clay
    3) Correct the defects with Ultimate Compound on a W8207 Yellow Foam Pad
    4) Polish paint with Ultimate Polish on a W9207 Black pad
    5) Wax with another black pad with your wax of choice.

That combination seems to be the most "universal," but you may have success with other approaches. Be sure to read this thread if you're new to DA polishing:

You will want to start off the a 2' by 2' area to work in with the UC. Do a test sport and see what results you are getting with the UC. Depending on how your test sport goes you may need to do a few more passes to remove all the defect. Slow arm speed and ample aomout of pressure but you don't want to stop the pad from spinning. Some people find hat marking a line on the top side of the pad near the edge helpful to see that the pad is spinning as well.

Just gave this to someone else for tips on using a DA : http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums...ction-Polisher

Agreed. Wish the local one carried them.

Congrats on the move to machine polishing! You definitely want to read through the above linked article before getting started. It looks like you've got your work cut out for yourself with the black vehicle - that's a mess!!!

Just keep in mind that these are two very different vehicles so the paint could be very different on them; one may be a piece of cake to fully correct and the other may take a lot more effort. That's not just down to the fact that one vehicle is in worse shape than the other, it's about paint hardness. Make sure you do a test spot on each before you just dive right in. You want to determine how aggressive you need to be (or don't need to be, as it sometimes happens) before just going over the whole vehicle, and a test spot is the perfect way to do that.
