Using G110v2 with 7inch pads, I have had good success with ultimate wax and polish, but for some reason I can't seem to get it right using the compound. Using small sections less than 16x16, after about 3 sections or 1/3 of hood the pad is apparently gumming up, the compound turns to glue, and pad stops spinning and looks almost like it changes direction? Used black pen to mark side of pad to monitor pad movement. I have tried cleaning on the fly, but the polisher stops spinning, I can only assume my technique is problem, any suggestions or references I can review to become effective using the compound, the sections completed are looking pretty good. Re: Difficulty using UC with G110v2
Try cleaning the pad more often. It could also be the surrounding environment (temperature, humidity etc). Try a smaller area and backing off the pressure a little.
Check out this video and article.
Also junkman has some good videos on youtube as does Mike Philips from Autogeek.

Re: Difficulty using UC with G110v2
Sounds like it might be too much product and a saturated pad. Prime a new pad by working a small amount of UC into the face of the pad. Use your fingers to push it around and into the pad. Then 2-3 small pea sized drops per section are ball you need. keep the drops to the outside of the pad, the rotation of the pad will pull the UC liquid to the center of the pad. This will cause the pad to saturate, warm and potentially fail (fly apart). I would use one pad per hood and roof, one pad for the sides and one for the trunk, front and rear. Good luck.

Smaller area to be worked. If you have been working and stop for a period of time the pad should be cleaned before starting again. If product is allowed to dry on the pad it becomes sticky. $.02BMW ZSCCA Area Rep SoCal

Re: Difficulty using UC with G110v2
Is it possible assuming my technique is acceptable, that the paint is part of my problem? The car is 17 years old and wonder if an extra step to polish ie. UP or M07 first would help hydrate paint and improve the workability of the UC? This is no show car, just working the car for fun and so see what I can do.

Re: Difficulty using UC with G110v2
Thank You Everyone,
I just finished compounding the 17 yr old car. In short there were several issues to consider including my technique as originally stated. I did not wash the car after the clay job, I have read that washing is not necessary, but this car had lots of contaminates, I was more focused on claying and did not clean/wipe down very well, thus left behind lots of residue (think this was big factor). Washed and dried the car and started over the next day.
Second day the temp was down below 85, humidity down from 90% to 72%. I got out two new yellow pads, the original are breaking down, the backing in loose so guess it may affect the quality. Today the UC did not seem to dry as fast, tried to use less product, used less pressure and changed pads before they became saturated. I am not sure if cleaning the clay residue made the big difference but I was able to work the UC today and the polishing was so much easier. Even with the second wash and frequent pad changes I pulled lots of dirt out of the paint, guess that’s was 17 yrs of no real cleaning does to the paint.
This car has been a major learning curve, I can’t say any one thing really fixed my trouble but today was much better. The car is far from perfect, but still impressive considering what I started with. Thanks to everyone for the input. SkipG
