Pictures from Meguiar's April 28th, 2018 Intro to Wet Sanding & Rotary Polishing
This past Saturday we had a great Intro to Wet Sanding & Rotary Polishing Class. We had a mix of auto detailers, body shop technicians, and enthusiasts.
Sanding Materials, Liquids, Accessories ready to go. ( and sorry we do not sell the water labels : ) )
Painted Panels ready for testing & practice
After the classroom portion of the class, we first started with a hand sanding demonstration.
Below is the first motion we will be sanding in
Next is an example of the next motion we will be sanding in. This is called a "cross cut" or "cross hatch".
Very tight, overlapping passes.
Nice & evenly sanded section
This is an example of a section which was not evenly sanded. This is a result of too wide of overlaps.
Next we cross cut.
Finished
Now on to DA Sanding.
Looks a bit different? DA Sanding is much more even.
To the left of the below picture is the after DA Sanding with a 1500 grit disc. To the right in the below picture is after 1500 & 3000 grit.
A bead of M100 Pro Speed Compound ready to be picked up.
Now it was time for the class attendants to get their hands on the different processes, Hand Sanding, DA Sanding, Rotary, & even Dual Action Polisher Sanding Mark removal.
Thanks to everyone for coming out! It was a great class!
