This is a loaded question, as there is no short answer. The lines are holograms instilled by your rotary machine. Most peeps will advise to obtain an orbital machine, as opposed to a rotary. Rotarys generate much more heat/friction than an orbital. It's possible to achieve a good finish with a rotary, but that takes a lot of skill/knowledge. Even highly skilled detailers will finish with an orbital.

Instead of me writing a book to describe techniques on how to achieve a flawless, showroom finish with a rotary, I would advise to just get an orbital, and go from there.

You can achieve this with an orbital.
