  • Wants to have perfect paint finish.

    Got a new Subaru Forester and want to learn to maintain the paint. Find out Meguiar's product online and want to start from here. Newbe and way to go.

    1. Wash - 2 buckets, Gold Class Soap, Grit Guards, quality towels, sponges.
    2. Clay - Smooth Surface clay kit
    3. ColorX
    4. Wax - Nxt 2.0, etc

      Step 1 to a perfect finish is to not touch the car, or drive it for that matter. Ideally, it should be kept in a bubble and away from sunlight, dust and everything else.

      If that doesn't work, follow the steps that Murr listed above and read up on the forums. Lots of knowledge out here, the SEARCH function is your friend. Ask if you are confused and people will help out.

          Oh, the number of times we've told people this at a Thursday Night Open Garage!!! Yep, expecting a "perfect finish" on a daily driver is nothing more than an exercise in frustration. But if you stay a bit grounded and accept that some things out of your control are going to happen, no matter what, then the hobby of keeping your car looking absolutely fantastic (though admittedly not quite perfect) all the time will be much more rewarding and far less frustrating.
