New member here. I've been into detailing for about 4 years now. I have always worked on modern cars. My usual treatment is wash, claybar, cleaner wax, NXT wax. I recently purchased an 88' BMW 635CSi and it is in amazing condition. With an older car, should I use a different technique than previously mentioned?

Ok, so my usual routine needs something added to it. There are some scratches and dings that Scratch X will not remove. The paint on this old bimmer is hard. So, should I use Ultimate Compound followed by wax? I've also read that you can use cleaner wax, then polish, and top with NXT - does this work well?

If ScratchX is not cutting it, I doubt cleaner wax, then polish, then wax will do anything to remove the scratches.
Nice car!Originally posted by BluelineI own a silver vehicle and a black vehicle owns me. The black one demands attention, washing, detailing, waxing and an occasional dinner out at a nice restaurant. The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.
