  • Yet another newbie here....

    good day to all...

After spending about a year working on my step-sons 2002 Camry, i finally painted it about 2 months ago. Lets just say that i'll never paint a car again! The paint came out with massive...and i mean MASSIVE orange peel. I finally got most of it sanded down and somewhat polished, but it has been an experience i never want to do again.

Anyway, after wet sanding like a mo-fo, and breaking thru the paint in some small areas, i've finally got to the point to where i'm about to finish the polishing stage. Oh yeah, the paint is NAPA CROSSFIRE urethane black, single stage. And it's a p.i.t.a. to buff out.

so, ive been trolling the fourms here for about 3 months, learned a lot. But since this is not the place to ask questions, i'll just say a little about me.

I've been an Automotive tech for 16 years, so i'm a Do-It-Yourselfer kinda guy. I got into custom painting computer cases years ago, but haven't done one an about 5 years.

I've always been somewhat OCD when it comes to cleaning my cars.....me belief is...either i'm going all the way, or i'm not doing it at all. If i'm going to vacuum the carpet, guess what....the seats are coming out. I got a little steam cleaner and it works great for what i do. Somehow or another, i have a ****-load of polish and compounds, and have no idea where they came from. I bought some M105 & M205, and like i said, the orange peel was so bad, ive been thru half a bottle of M105.

I bought a rotarty buffer and a DA polished from Harbor Freight last year, and i'll tell ya, the DA polisher was worth every cent.

Anyway, i'll end this for now before it turns into a book.

    I'm glad to be aboard.
