This is my introductory post on "Meguiar's Online". As a general rule I will be speaking about my black, 5.7 liter 2013 Chrysler 300S. I present to this site with a long history of painting show cars (the 1970's thru to 2003). I no longer participate in that field however because I retired at an relatively early age about ten years ago and can no longer keep up with the incredible physical labor that is needed in that business. Because of this I have fallen behind with all the changes that have taken place in the field of automotive paint care and maintenance. The chemicals that they make today are far more complex and comprehensive than back in my day. Because I have been maintaining the paint on my Chrysler with Meguiar's products I thought I would join this online forum to learn more about their products and to keep abreast of all the current methods of automotive paint maintenance and detail. The basic principles are the same for sure but there is always room to learn. Anyway.........after purchasing my Chrysler I handed the car over to a trusted paint specialist who corrected some of the imperfections that come with all factory paint jobs. Since then I have been keeping this cars paint job well maintained. Because my wife uses this car as a daily driver there are limits to what I am willing to do to this car. It is however garaged, washed as little as possible and gone over by myself several times a week with a "California Duster", Meguiar's Instant Detailer and Meguiar's wax products. Anyway...........that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Re: My First Post.
Thoryamaha............I appreciate you're input. I have heard what you're telling me from a few others. Some folks swear by California Dusters and others (like yourself) warn against using them. While I use a very light touch when using one I do understand that the dust and grime on the car can produce small scratches. I always dust in straight lines but all the same it can still produce small scratches. I've been using them for several years now and haven't had any problems........yet. But supposing that I stop using the Duster........what would you suggest I use in-between washing the car to keep it clean and dust free? I have it heard it said that a clean microfiber towel and some instant detailer does the trick but that would also seem to me to cause small scratches as well. Once again..........thanks for you're opinion.

Re: My First Post.
What I use is a quick detailer like Meg's ultimate quik detailer and soft thick plush microfiber towels. Another idea for you is the waterless wash. You can use those as well if you should have more dust built up.

Re: My First Post.
I use a California Duster and the only time I use this is if the car has been parked inside my garage and has collected dust. In addition, the safe way to use the duster is to have the duster only lightly hover over the paint. If the car has been driven outside, it will warrant a wash.2012 Acura CBP TL SH-AWD Tech
