My project car spends a lot of time on a lift at one particular shop (okay, in all honesty... it sleeps there). So I do a lot of trade off work: wash this, polish that ... clean something ... wrench on this or that.
After "working" on Friday, a handful of us were standing around outside the shop talking about needing to borrow a truck or two.
Shop owner said I could borrow the truck if I detailed it when I was done... fair enough! (It's a brand new Silverado.)
Then he had to go and make some comment about scratches from the last time I washed/waxed it. .... My heart stopped!
"Scratches or swirl marks?"
He gives me this nervous smile and runs a hand over the hood of the truck, "I mean, it looks good now, but under the gas station lights... "
So now I'm running around the front of this truck, trying to catch light off something (it's about 9PM) so I can see what he's talking about.
Anyway we all go home... I actually lose sleep over the thought of messing up someone's paint like he's saying... ACK!
Saturday we're over at the shop, picking up the 'old shop truck' ... as I'm afraid to touch the new one.... and one of the mechanics tells me the owner was joking.
He was impressed on the finish I found on his truck and was just giving me a hard time.
JERK! (laughing)
