Well I did it, and Scratch X has help save the day.
This is what happens when you back up and don't see the BRIGHT red Corvette sitting just off to the side.
Here's a close up of the paint left on my fender, What is circled is not a scratch, but a fracture in the fiberglass under the paint. It hasn't broken through yet, but it will eventually.
After 4 tries with Scratch X, I was able to completely remove the red paint, and with no apparent marking to the clear coat.
All that I needed to do was treat with a little polish, and a coat of #26 to bring back the shine.
