  • Farfigswirlin...

Here's a green VDub we just finished up..

Quite a bit of this discoloration. Looks like someone attempted some paint reapir at some point, and they screwed it up even worse than it was.

That definitely was some swirling. Great job on the paint. Is that an aftermarket paint job? What process did you go with?

Yes, aftermarket paint that was very thin! 3.2mils was the thickest measurement I got.

        Process was
M105 with a wool pad on the Dewalt....very lightly!!!
80 on the DA with a yellow pad
        66 for the wax.

For some reason NXT 2.0 streaked pretty bad on this paint. Hope it was a fluke.

Thanks guys! The girl that owns this vehicle was shocked! She just knew the paint wasn't repairable. And to be honest, with the paint being as thin as it is, I wasn't real sure how many defects I was going to be able to remove. It's a long ways from perfect, but it bought her a couple of more years to enjoy her car before she has to worry about repainting it

what was your basic process on it since the paint seemed pretty thin?

Awesome results. Love the reflection shots.
I would like to get a paint thickness guage. Are there any places that sell these that are not ridiculously expensive?

                          Re: Farfigswirlin...

where did the dent go, to the right of the discolored area above the door? The first pic shows a dent, the after pic has no dent. do you practive paintless dent removal? I've been tinkering with the idea.

kinda goes hand in hand with detailing.

I would have recommended that he'd need a repaint... just because that green is horrible!

                            Regardless nice work!
