  • Meguiar's on 2004 Mach1 & 1999 Altima

I'm new here, but I just wanted to post some pictures of the cars I've detailed recently. I've used mostly Meguiar's products on these cars, my 2004 Azure Blue Mach1, and my mom's 1999 Altima. I posted something about my Mach1 on autopia, so it might seem familiar to some of you that frequent there.

On my Mach1, I washed with NXT Wash.
There are minor swirls on the finish and I started to remove them with #9 and MPPC, but I think they were doing more harm then good.
    Wizard's Shine Master Polish & Sealant x2
    NXT x2

More pictures can be seen in my Photobucket album

Today I applied #16 to a small section of the hood and will see if it changes the look.

    On my mom's Altima
I washed with Gold Class Wash
#80 Speed Glaze to remove some swirls, tried MPPC for the rest of the car, but liked the feel of #80. I must say a big THANKS to Scottwax for suggesting #80. It worked great! My mom's Altima had swirls like these all over the car:

After #80, it looked like this:

Mind you, I was doing this by hand with the method I've heard Scottwax and others use (terry towel folded up, rubbing really hard 5 or more times, which worked b/c the towel did get warm) but I only was able to do about half of the hood before my arms felt like they were going to fall off.

After going over the whole car with #80, I applied #26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax, 2 times on the hood, roof, and half of the trunk (the other half has NXT x2, a little experiment )

Here's the car in a somewhat sunny period:

    Lastly, the product reflection shot:

    Comments, suggestions are welcomed!

      Hey,

Your car looks great!!! I bet your arms feel like two paper weights right about now! In the future, you should try to obtain a PC, which will make your life a whole lot easier!

It took a bit of work, but we now have Scottwax using the PC as well!

What kind of issues came up during the use of those products? This would be interesting to learn from. Thanks

Tim - my arms definitely were beat after that. so much so i don't think i did the rest of the car THAT good, if you know what i mean. heh heh. but i'm definitely going to get a PC when my finances allow for it, hopefully soon.

scrub - i think i was introducing more marring because i was using my waxmaster random orbital to apply those two products. doh!
other than that, i think they're great products!
so if there is a lesson to be learned, don't cut corners and get a PC!
just a side note: i might try those products a try the next time i attempt to remove the swirls. might be a while though since i want to see how long the nxt will last for me.
