alright, so my roomie went out of town. she keeps complaining about how dirty her car is, and she happened to leave a key by the kitchen table. wonder what i can do about this. needless to say, the key found its way to the ignition and then to the wash bay where i live (about 100 feet away... conveniently)
so i washed the explorer, and it looked HORRIBLE. i was like, oh my god, this car, its terrible, the paint, i have to fix this. so much for a simple wash. JK it was a fun car to do, not terribly complex, and not oversized.
heres the process
washed with 00
dried with synthetic chamois
wheels were cleaned with stoners tarminator.
then i got back to my place, all of 100 feet away.
first i quick detailed the car to get rid of the dust from the long drive.
then (you will notice i did all of this in the sun) i prayed that it turned out well.
after that was done, i cleaned the wheels with invisible glass and NXT insane shine tire coating
wheel wells and running boards and trim were done with #40 vinyl and rubber cleaner
the whole car got a nice coat of #9 swirl remover 2.0 (LOVE IT)
followed by #6 (LOVE IT) cleaner wax.
a top coat of #26 High tech yellow
and a brush off with ultimate quick detailer
followed by plastic X on the heads and tails
plenty of pictures if i can get them all to work. ill try and put them in order.
after a good double wash.
wheel dirty, tire clean
dull and faded, plenty of scratches. needs a meguiars touch!
GAH!!!(hood)
me on the hood. before anything
theres my leg, notice the dull faded appearance.
still terrible. gotta get goin on this and stop taking pictures
looks more gray then black to me. we'll fix it
#9 applied to the driver side of the hood
hood finished for now. 10x better but needs a lot of work later
polish applied to passengers side
polish off, wax on, front tire complete.
quarter panel w/ wax
still waiting for it to cure completely
finished the rear. shiny and clean
driver side after cleaner wax.
driver side after swirl remover and #26
full drivers side shot. needs trim shined up
bird on the hood.
after this, i got lazy
here are the results.
had to get my car involved so here she is.
good reflection shot.
without flash
not perfect by any means, but im pleased with the results. cant wait to put some more into that hood and the scratches, gotta get something a little more abrasive, but overall im happy.
