  • Detailed: Perodua Myvi Special Edition - Milky White

A good friend of mine entrusted his new car to be detailed (4000KM). He love this car to bits..

(ps: the car mod craze here is to modify this model to the Toyota Passo or Daihatsu Sirion/Boon - costly mods though )

He wanted especially the paint to be as glossy as it can be so here goes...

    Day 1:

Car reached my place around 4pm. Only started work around 10pm (I went out with my girlfriend)

    Here are some picts:

    EXTERIOR BEFORE

    Stains on the door handle

Not to dirty on the engine compartment

    Dusty

Exhaust tip in need some cleaning

    Bird poo

Fuel cap only a bit dirty

Signs of dried wax (probably soft99)

Minor brake dust on all 4 corners

The Wheel face is diamond cut and Clear Coated

    Wheels wells little bit dirty

    INTERIOR BEFORE

Grease marks all over the doors

    Generally looks clean

Car had leather seats - dirt trapped

    Dusty pedals

    Process:
Started with Interior Clean up (around 4-6pm then went out for dinner)
    • Full Interior Vacuum (incld all dash + rear compartments)
    • Vents cleaned with MF and Qtip
    • Vinyl surfaces was wiped with APC
    • Carpets got cleaned with APC
    • Greasy residue was clean with APC+ then googone
    • Leather wiped down with cotton towel - Megs GC Cleaner - Megs GC Conditioner on all leather surfaces.
    • Pedals scrubbed with APC
    • Interior windows on Megs Detailer Glass Cleaner
    • Vinyl protected with M40
    • Door Jambs with D151 via yellow pad applicator
    • Chrome emblems were cleaned with Megs Alu & Mag Cleaner
Here are some picts of :

INTERIOR AFTER (picts taken on random time and compiled together)

    Ahh...nice and clean car mat

    Grease free door jambs

    Clean emblem on the steering

Not sure why but it does feel better (as in softer) after applying the GC Leather Conditioner .....hmm

    On with the body

    Later at night

    - took more random picts at random hrs (after washing process)

Hand prints all over the inside windows

    Swirls and RIDS ...

    Water spots were also present

Quite deep multiple scratch marks at the rear passanger side

Reflections (after washing process) via LED - looks milky or cloudy...

Clayed the entire car + windows

    Wheels & wheel wells:
    • 1st to be washed via combi of PW, WB (10:1), SDEG, APC+ and various brushes. (tar still remained - didnt use the BodySolvent)
    • Wheel wells sprayed with HyperDressing (4:1)
    • Outer wheel face treated with D151 on yellow pad applicator + wiped off with generic MF
    • Tires protected with Endurance High Gloss
    Body -
    • Washed with NXT, Megs MF mitt, 2BM (with Grit Guard) and various brushes for nooks.
    • Rinsed with PW
    • Dried via 2 Megs Water Magnet
    Claying
    • Blue Clay + Megs Last Touch as lube
    • Dried with ADS MF and Megs Water Magnet
    Finished around 2am

    Day 2: 9AM

    Paint Correction

Combo - D151 on Yellow Pad via Rotary Buffer (plastic bumpers via DA)

(I measured the film build and certain parts especially the front hood and rear hatch were around 65(lowest) - 84(highest) microns.
Quite low for a new vehicle though...plus judging by the owners choice of car wash - a simple cleanup was chosen. RIDS were left to be)

    For the extra protection
Painted surfaces were sealed with M21 2.0 (2 coats via DA)

Exterior Chrome bits - Megs Alu & Mag Cleaner

    Picts DURING paint correction

Its not 100% defect free. Lots more RIDS remained

    Here are the after shots
(completed around 5pm owner pick it up around 7pm)

I'm gonna give some NXT 2.0, applicator pad and some MFs as a Christmas gift

    Thanks for viewing

Joel, Christian & Brandon - Thanks guys!

Leg room at the back is quite ok for my size. Its a hit here as its very affordable and the styling.

                  Tim,

I have to smile whenever I see a new post of one of your details. I know I in for an excellent ride of pictures and detailed information.

Great job making that white paint glossy!

Oh, one other thing. Your fingernails look a little too clean and well manicured for a detailer. Whose really doing the work?

Thanks Mike....the trick is to use gloves when doing the dirty work. Anything related with grease, I'll wear gloves. Manicured?....well...
