Same here. And I'd rather it stayed this way.

Re: 2007 VW Jetta - first detail - pics heavy

Taking advantage of the first sunny and warm day this week, I decided to spend some time on the interior of the Jetta. And I have to tell you - it was fun!!
        My plan was to:
        1) thoroughly vacuum the interior,
        2) clean the seats and other fabric elements - for this I used Quik Out, All-Surface Interior Brush and some terry towels,
        3) clean and protect the plastics - All Purpose Cleaner Wipes, Quik Interior Detailer, NXT Gen Tech Protect, Natural Shine and a selection of applicator pads, small brushes and MF towels,
        4) clean the windows - Sonax Nano Window Cleaner and a MF towel,
        5) protect door seals - NXT Gen Tech Protect,
        6) clean and protect doorsteps - All Purpose Cleaner Wipes and NXT Gen Spray Wax.

        Some comments and observations:
        1) the vaccum cleaner at car wash turned out to be too weak to remove all the dirt from the foot rest areas - I will have to vacuum these places again once I'm home and in my garage,
        2) Quik Out did a fantastic job of removing a lot of old stains,
        3) I used All Purpose Cleaner Wipes to clean pedals and plastics around seats, doorsteps, lower portions of doors etc. because these places were really dirty. For cocpit, central console and upper portions of doors I used Quik Interior Detailer which also collected quite a lot of dirt.
        4) NXT Gen Tech Protect was used on plastic doorsteps, plastics around seats and foot rests, all other surfaces were protected with Natural Shine.
        5) I applied NXT Gen Tech Protect to floor mats and pedals - I know it's a bit risky but I wanted them to look good and wiped them dry to minimize slipping hazard.
        6) I could clearly see that plastics in this car had never been protected before - they were literally absorbing the products I put onto them.

Enough talking - time for "before" pictures:

        And now some "after" ones:

        Thank you for watching.

Well, I do hope spring is on the way ... but we had some late snow storms early this week ... and that was not fun.

yea, the same thing happened to my parents living in denmark... climate change is a major threat for our cars these days... hehe

Well. this is to prove I'm still working on this car. After four months it is starting to look decent. I'm seriously considering purchasing a DA to get rid of all the swirls - the clear coat is pretty hard and it is really diffucult to remove them when working by hand. During that time I tried to wax the car roughly every two weeks - since it had not been detailed before I got it, the paint was literally consuming the wax. I was mostly using ColorX and DC3. Jetta was also clayed and polished with Body Scrub. These are a few shots I took some 30 minutes ago when moving the car out of the garage. This time, after washing it, I used DC2 for the first time (it gave a great result) followed by a coat of GCLW. I then left the car in the garage overnight and today gave it a coat of NXT 1.0.

                    Very good work.

Unfortunately, the diesel engine does too good of a job at making the car dirty. Same for those aggressive brake pads often found on VW.

I have to confirm - the brake dust on this car is absolutely killing me. I can spend a lot of time cleaning rims and rim hubs and they will be covered in dust in a week. I was considering buying aluminium rims which would look much nicer and be easier to clean (taking into account the number of brushes and wheel cleaners I have ) but it is quite a significant investment ...

My girlfriend laighs at me when it comes to cleaning my car. She says I spend more time with my car then her. Women just don't understand us car guys.
