  • 2002 Ford Ranger

Here’s a detail I did on my old man’s truck over the last 2 days. Gave the truck to my old man about 4 years ago, and I think it has been washed twice, and never waxed. About 2 years ago he had one of his lungs removed because of Lung Cancer. So he isn’t able do a whole lot to the truck. He's not supposed to be even working, but he insists on it. So he works for me at our shop. He take's care of a lot of things for me, and pretty much handles all of our fleet tracking and does everything that no one want's to do. So for a surprise I thought I would give it a real good detail. I borrowed his truck for 2 days with the premise that I would be using it to haul stuff for my backyard. Interior was trashed. The Paint was really in bad shape. Lot of deep scratches, very oxidized and lot’s of contaminants. You can see in the pics that no depth or reflections in the paint

Here’s my process on the interior.

Took like an hour just to remove all the stuff he had in the truck.
    Pre Vac’d everything.
Cleaned with Purple Power diluted 10:1
Lots of work with blow gun, and baby bottle brush
Dressed Interior with Armor All Flat interior Finish
    Dry brushed the head liner.
Cleaned seats with Blue Corral carpet cleaner.

Truck took a lot of time with 105 to remove the swirling and Paint Transfer. Did the whole truck with 2 passes, and the hood with 5 passes.
Was able remove the majority of the swirls, but wasn't able to remove a lot of the deep scratches, would have needed to wet sand to remove them.

That is the most hardcore tape job I've ever seen- bravo!

The Ranger EDGE trucks are near and dear to my heart (My first new vehicle was a 2002 Ranger EDGE, AWESOME truck and so much fun). Love to see them taken care of.

      Nice work!

Looks Great. I bet your dad really appreciated it.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

          I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
          Remove swirls my friends.

                Wicked transformation! Love the yellow!

That interior was pretty rough, looks like it cleaned up really well.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a question for Mark - did you have your 5 spokes chromed after the fact?
