  • A Little Deep Cleaning...

This Cobra used for some track duty here recently and got pretty dirty, heading to a show this weekend and needed to get cleaned up. As most of you know, this is good to do once a year to keep things under control. This is the first time we've been able to give it a thorough deep cleaning. Hopefully we can continue to keep it this way.

    Looks pretty clean huh?

    Nice bugs!

    Nasty, dirty wheels!

Get those wheels off, and we can really get in there

Check out the inside of these wheels!

Gotta let these soak a while!

    Not perfect, but much better!

Couple of side by sides. Notice the difference?

as usual it looks great. What was the process..was there a whole lot of scrubbing on the wheels, or did you use a good dilution of APC or something??

Nick, I have to ask: what was your process on these wheels? I plan on doing mine this weekend and they aren't quite this bad but do need some TLC.

I tried several things on the wheels, and usually APC+ works very well. But these were beyond control, and had a couple of years worth of track filth built up on them. I needed something that could just sit on them for a while, needed a gel type product. Ended up having to use P21S on them. It's thick enough to just sit there for a while without drying up or running off. Then using a stiff bristled scrub brush to break up the big stuff caked up on top, then another coat of P21S and a magic eraser, LIGHTLY scrubbing the deeper stains out of the wheels. All in all, it took 2 hours per wheel(even the rear wheels). And I could have easily spent another hour to get the rest of it cleaned. But the customer barely let me go this far, I couldn't imagine asking for another 4 hours just to clean the wheels

Nick, as usual great work. The results on the rims are outstanding. @ hours per wheel. That is going the extra mile. Great work once again.

That was some nasty wheel grime. Good work as always Nick.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                        I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                        Remove swirls my friends.
