  • Quik M-I-L detail

    Hey everyone!

Since my daughter's been born I've had some time off from work so what better way to spend it then with my daughter and with some rides that need some TLC!

Here again is my mother in laws '99 Subaru Forester that I detailed for her for Mother's Day. Well I got as far as knocking out some swirls and scratches, (this was before the G110) but was unable to wax it.

Yesterday I was supposed to be detailing my wifes aunt's Ford Explorer but something came up and she couldn't make it. Well I'm determined to detail something! I went over to the M-I-L's house and told her that I would finish up the Forrester. She had no objections as long as it was back before 4 pm, she had to be at work.

So I started at around 10:30 with a quick wash, wasn't too dirty but dirty enough!

Sorry, I have no before pictures. If you want to get an idea of what I was working with here's the link to the first detail.

We encourage MOL members to show off their latest before & after results. We also welcome "Work in Progress" Threads. For Enthusiasts or Professional Detailers

    My process:

    D140 for the rims
GC High Endurance for the tires
UC, 1 pass with yellow pad, medium pressure @ 5
    #07 1 pass w/ yellow pad, medium to light pressure @ 4
    #26 1 pass w/ black pad, light pressure @ 3
Finished off with UQD and a SSMF

    Anyways.....on to the pics!

First up, proud daddy shot! She's styling as we get her ready to go home.

Not too bad for 5 hours work, I was busting my rump towards the end to get the Forester back to her before she needed to leave for work.

The paint was still in decent shape even though it's been a little over a month now that I went over the whole car with UC by hand. There were however new child induced scratches and swirls. I didn't go all out on this car because a) only had 5 hours with it and b) it's not going to stay nice for very long. For now though it's the nicest and shiniest looking car on the block!

    Thanks for reading guys!

            Thanks everyone!

This was by far the fastest detail I've done to date, I'm pretty happy with the results. It was overcast when I did the detail so I couldn't get a clear look on how well the defects came out with just one pass of the UC.
Yesterday I saw the Forester sitting out in the sun, swirls were thinned out and all the scratches sans the deeper ones were gone.

Yeah my little peanut is going to be stealing alot of shows!
