  • 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Night Runner Detail

My Father-in-law recently bought this truck and I did not know this option even exsisted. It's a really cool one and when I researched I found out it came with Black Ice Chromed Rims which some jack *** swapped them out before it must have been traded. It was like someone buying a 2002 CETA Trans Am with 16" Silver Painted Twist Rims. g:
The process was very simple. The truck was clean but I wanted a solid foundations to allow quicker details in the future. The Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl paint really pops nicely and makes this truck really stand out.

Look at some of the reflections in the paint and the flake in the paint, i wish I had a better camera to show. Enjoy!

    Process:

    Wash- Turtle Wax Ice Wash
    Wax- #26 Meguiar's Hi-Tec Yellow Wax Carnuba
    Interior- Vaccume, Quick Detail Mist
Tires- Bleach White, Brush, Rinse, Meg's Hot Shine Spray
Engine- Meg's Ultimate Quick Detailer, Tire Shine Gel
    Booster- meg's Ultimate Quick Wax

My best friend's dad used to have one of these. But he sold it back in like '08 when the gas crisis was at the MAX!

Yea, its a pretty sweet truck. I am not a Mopar guy but this is one truck I would own. I like Short Bed 2-seaters be it whatever brand. Ford though is last on the list of the Big Three.

The father-in-law also recently got a 97 Wrangler. Pretty clean. Hooked a Plow to it for the winter. It gets all that gas milage back that way. I want to do that vehicle next.

            Thanks!

As for the engine, it has a lot of plastic on it, if I took it all off, I bet its probably no bigger then a LSX based GM v8. My best bud has a '09 Ram 3500 with the big Cummings Diesel and that thing bearly fits in that engine bay.

I try, once in a while lol!

I really need a DA or Rotary, I am itching to go further. I dare not try to take swirls out by hand. I do not to introduce more scratches and swirls and I think my arm would fall off.

I am already pretty sore to begin with.

Great detail. You are absolutely right about the wheels. They were a pretty interesting looking wheel. You might look into finding another set to really help the value. The Night Runner was a limited production that painted all chrome surfaces black and even had a dark shade of wheel. I can't tell by the pictures but if I remember correctly the headlights and taillights should be darkened as well. The headlights look correct but the taillights look like normal Ram taillights. I could be wrong about that though.

Given to what happens when a vehicle is traded in and resold, some jerk swapped out the stuff. At this time the owner is not killing himself to find the correct rims. Intake and Exhaust are on the docet.

Being a Dodge guy that's on the dodge forums alot, I can tell you that the original rims that came on that truck are really sought after and go for alot of money for just being stock wheels. They don;t make reproduction versions and the dealer charges about 1200 a rim for those. I wouldn;t be surprised if the dealer themselfs traded the wheels on it.

Yea, that reminds me of the 96-97 WS.6 and SS hoods for LT1 era 4th Gen Camaro and Firebirds. You could ONLY get a Original hood from SLP and you had to own a car with the correct VIN/RPO and even if it was a auto accident, they needed the damaged hood back.

Aftermarket never supported it at the time and only maybe in the early 2000's when there was the 98+ Body change over did they become more avalible.

I just wished I had known about the rarity of the rim before he bought it, but he buys things on a whim....
