  • BMW 325xi, Harley Road King, F-250

2006 BMW 325xi, 18k on the clock. Its owned by an older gentleman, really nice guy and a pleasure to do business with.

The paint was not so much swirled, but rather oxidized and did not have all that much depth or clarity. Its a daily driver that sits outside all the time, I do not think it is washed that often either, judging by the wheels.

The interior was a bit weathered, the driver's seat leather was a little dirty and the carpet needed to be cleaned as well.

I washed the wheels, tires, and wells with Deep Crystal Car Wash, Wheel Brightener, and Super Degreaser along with various brushes.

I then washed the car with Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner, I scrubbed off any tar or bug guts with a bug sponge, soap and water, and Body Solvent.

The trunk was vacummed and the jambs were wiped out with All Purpose Cleaner and a terry cloth.

I then made my way into the interior, a few befores..

I pulled the mats out, vacummed the interior, dry brushed the carpet, re vacummed, then cleaned it with All Purpose Cleaner, warm water, and a brush. I then extracted with my shop vac, hot water, and cotton towels.

All leather was scrubbed with All Purpose Cleaner and my high dollar toothbrush, then dressed with Quik Interior Detailer.

All vinyl, plastic, and other panels were cleaned the same way but with cotton towels and a toothbrush where necessary.

Wood trim was waxed with a cut off piece of a foam applicator and #6 - Cleaner Wax. All glass wa cleaned with Glass Cleaner Concentrate, and all vents and crevices were dusted out with a gentle paintbrush.

The door jambs were cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner, water, then sealed with my 70/30 mix of #135 - Synthetic Spray Detailer and Ultimate Quik Wax.

Floor mats were just scrubbed with soap and water the rinsed and dried.

I lightly clayed the paint, then applied #66 - Quick Detailer (Cleaner/Wax) to the paint and chrome with my PC at speed 4. I used several W8207 pads as well. I then applied a coat of NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 an hour later by hand.

The chemical cleaners and DAT did a great job of removing the dull and oxidized paint, a couple of the pads turned a little black. The black pigment was most likely just a build up of dirt and contaminants.

The tires and fender wells were dressed with All Season Dressing, the wheels were sealed with #20 - Polymer Sealant, all glass was cleaned with Glass Cleaner Concentrate at 10:1.

2003 Harley Road King, first bike of 2010. I did about twelve bikes last year, I do not really like detailing bikes but you can make good money doing them.

    A before shot:

Washed with Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner, a Meguiars wash mitt, and EZ Clean Spray & Rinse where needed.

I used my high dollar paint brush to clean the crevices:

I then dried the bike with the blower attachment on my good ole shop vac:

The tire cleaned up nicely with All Purpose Cleaner and a toothbrush,

    Before:

    After:

I lightly clayed the paint, then removed the light toweling marks and light swirls with SwirlX by hand and six foam applicator pads, I then applied Deep Crystal System Polish, then sealed the paint with three coats of NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0.

All chrome was polished with Hot Rims Chrome Polish the sealed with #20 - Polymer Sealant, the wheels were polished with Hot Rims Mag Aluminum Polish and a terry cloth.

All cracks and crevices were wiped clean with the Meguiars Motorcycle Detailer Mist & Wipe.

    2004 Ford F-250 FX4,

I wash this one every two weeks usually. Washed with Ultimate Wash and Wax, sealed with my 70/30 mix of #135 - Synthetic Spray Detailer and Ultimate Quik Wax. Tires and fenderwells were dressed with All Season Dressing, glass was cleaned with Glass Cleaner Concentrate at 10:1.

Nick, seriously man knoxk it off!! You are making the rest of us look bad. LOL Great work man. Nice job on making the BMW sleek and elegant again. Great job on the bike and the truck as well. Keep up the great work. Where in Illinois is the owner of the F250 from? I noticed that he has a Badlands sticker in his back window. That is omly about 45 minutes from my place and I ride their track a few times a year.

Fantastic work Nick, especially that bike! One thing I've noticed is your consistent results with each and every job. It looks like you really pay attention to all the details.

How long do you normally spend on a BMW like that (with that process)? Just curious.

Also, have you ever tried Stoner Tarminator? I used Body Solvent a few years back and wasn't real impressed. Now days I use Tarminator and IMO, it's the best tar remover out there. It starts melting tar on contact. You can order a 12-can case direct from Stoner for $38.20 shipped and have it in 2 days. That's how I've been ordering it. Plus, if you get on their email list they send out $5-$10 coupons every so often. Anyway, just a thought.

                Again, great work as always!

                  Great job, Nick!

I will be detailing a motorcycle soon (two of them actually).

Just wondering if there is anything safe you can use to dress things like the seat, the tires, the brake pedals so that they don't pose a hazard, or do you just wash them?

Also, did you do any of the metal polishing by machine? I was actually thinking about getting one of those power balls like Mothers makes for doing wheel and chrome polishing.

The BMW took about 6 hours, more or less. It depends if certain things slow me down.

I probably would have finished an hour sooner if the wheels were not trashed.

I have not tried Stoners, I really like Body Solvent. The key is to let it dwell.

I just washed the seat, pedals, and tires. I dressed the seat and pedals with Quik Interior Detailer though.

A good cleaning with APC makes them look nice and natural afterwards.

Great work as always. The Beemer sure cleaned up nice and again you're making me miss my old truck.

Dude! 12 motorcycles last year? My neighbor has repeatedly asked me to do his Harley. After consulting this website and others and seeing how involved it is I passed. Plus he'd have to move it for me. I've been on a motorcycle, once, which to me was plenty. (Note: I'm a former EMT. We'll just leave it at that...)

I have offered to clay, polish and wax the tank and fenders and leave the rest to him. I still haven't heard back on that offer.

Bikes can be very time consuming, lots of little cracks and crevices that need to be cleaned out.

Here are some of the bikes I did in 2009.

If you don't have some of these you need 'em. Makes gettin' those nooks n crannies a breeze.

I found some at a Yamaha shop under a different name.

Didn't see any Vivid Black Harleys in your pics. If you get a customer with one I suggest you 'just say no'!
