Gang,
I know it's been a while since posting much. Life is busy. My dad has stage 4 lung cancer and been trying to stay close to him. He is still going through Chemo last I talked to him. He still plays golf and if he goes down, he doesn't want to be in a hospital bed. His 36 holes did drop to 18 though.
Anyways.....
2003 Honda Accord.
Process:
Wash - Eagle One wash
Clay - Meguiar's Clay and QD, LT didn't react well to paint.
flood rinse, dry.
G100
M80 - LC Orange - didn't touch it.
M205 - LC Orange Helped but not much.
M105 - LC Orange - better but not much.
Rotary
M205 - 8202 pad - slow speed work way up then back off. That's the ticket!
G100
M205 - LC Orange
M66 - LC White
Do Do Juice Blue Velvet
M26 frone end
Interior:
IQD - Natural Shine - Detailer Line Glass Cleaner.
Wheels/Tires - Eagle One All Wheel/TIRE cleaner and Wheel Brightner (1:7) for the wheels.
Engine:
Eagle One All Wheel/Tire cleaner as a cleaning agent and careful hosing and M40 to shine it up. Sorry no picture of the engine but it turned out great.
I first washed and clayed the car. The surface contaminants were horrid. I then dialed in my procedure and ended up using a rotary. I feared the rotary as usual, especially on the darkest color I've been up against. It worked MAH-VELOUS. My confidence with the rotary has increased everytime I touch it. I thank Tim Lingor for behind the scenes with everything from bead pickup and how to. My rotary work for the most part could've gone to wax but I did have some holograms just on the right side of the trunk lid. The whole car required the rotary. I wash washing pads like crazy getting this car dialed in. Honda paint of this year actually was very forgiving. I then did a final jeweling of M66 (Thanks Tuck!) and put a coat of Do Do Juice Blue Velvet and M26 was applied to the front end, multi paint chips and the dry clearing power of M26 made it look good.
The job was set up and quoted without my signature tear interior apart and give a good cleaning portion. The concentration was on the paint. The interior was not too bad but needed help. I did loosen the seats to vacuum the 7 years of ick next to the seat and center arm rest. I then bolted them back in. My wifey did the interior with Quik Interior Cleaner and finished with Natural Shine. She did a great job and helped me with final wax and final wipe downs. It was fun. The owners want me to do their boat......Can't wait!
Anyways, here are the pics. I didn't get great final in the sun pics, but I visited the car a day or two later and there are no swirls whatsoever and I washed the car inbetween as I had the car two days. I think I had 18 hours in it total. I was tuckered out (no pun Tuck!)
This car was DIRTY!
Yikes:
Bugs were bad on this car and a lot of paint etching on the front end: Including the the mirrors!
The swirls were deep but the paint was forgiving to work on.
I think this scratch was in the trunk. Lots of RIDS all over the car. Most of them I can feel with my fingernail. I didn't get rid(no pun) all of them but I softened them enough to make it hard to find again. Rotary and M105!
Trunk:
The wheels were black on the inside and they looked horrid! The front wheels obiviously not this one were completely black. Took a lot of applications of Wheel Brightner mixed 1:7 to get em clean!
Lots of fingernail marks. I rubbed them out by hand with M105. Actually my wife did these areas when I was getting strapped on time. She did a great job. It's so cool as she knows what the numbers mean! She used ScratchX 2.0 first then when that didn't do well enough, she went to M105!
Wow, I got a lot of befores....more than I thought anyways!
BUGS!
The hood was my test pattern, no 50/50 shots though.....
This scratch is on the hood, very deep, I managed to get rid of most of it with M105, rotary and soften it.
RIDS!:
Swirls/RIDS!
Maybe that's why ScratchX wouldn't work.....but always try least aggressive first!
Engine bay before, imagine clean and M40 applied for the after
Claying the trunk, not bad:
Uh, oh, getting worse:
Yikes! The paint was really rough, no need for a plastic baggie. You can feel it good enough!
The afters!
Hood (obviously)
Hood or trunk, can't remember!
Hood
This thing had hardly any reflection on it.
Caught my wife with final wipedown! he he
Quite a transformation in this car, the color is beautiful. I am proud of this one. My back aint though.....
Surprisingly the roof wasn't as bad as the trunk or hood. I did take M205 to the sunroof, it surface contaminants bad, my clay is shot, now it's window duty clay!
Can't get the good Cruel Master shots with my current camera....But no swirls.
The fenders were horrid but they turned out great!
I got awesome use of this cart my wifey got me for CHRISTmas. It got it's use for the day that's for sure!
This car was my prouder moment, I was a litlte worried about the darker color and I just remembered what Joe told me once, no matter the color, make of the car, you approach it as any other car. Thanks Joe!
Thanks for looking!
