Nothing special here, I just got my BMW ready for winter. The finish was already swirl free, in cases like this I usually use the red bottle cleaner wax or Color-X and top with NXT or 21, but this time I tried #205 instead of a cleaner wax and got excellent results. As I said the finish was already swirl free except for a few RIDS, so I just wanted a clean surface for the wax to adhere to and no correction, so I tried out the hand polisher with the four inch pads, and was very pleased at the ease of use! (I have the DA machine, but like I said I didnt need any paint correction, just clean surface) One thing I learned today was that #205 is an excellent product for use by hand! I usually reach for scratch-x or ultimate compound for spot correction on the RIDS, but I discovered 205 is actually very very good by hand for correcting scratches and it finishes off a lot nicer then any of the other products.
My process was:
• Wash with NXT wash
• Clay
• go over whole car by hand lightly with #205 and the hand thing with the velcro and 4 inch yellow polishing pad, with extra elbow grease on isoloted scratches.
• Two Thin coats of #21 v. 1.0 with the velcro thing and 4 inch finishing pad (I have used the NXT 2.0 and gone back to using by #21 1.0 because I think the 21 is actually a superior product, thats just my opinion and I havent tried the 21 2.0 yet)
• Tires dressed with #40
• The black plastic trim dressed with Gold Class Trim Detailer
Enjoy the Photos!
