  • Twin Blow Dryer 09 Audi R8 detailed for photo shoot..

Here is a project I was asked to work on last week for an up and coming photo shoot on this one off, 2009 Audi R8 Twin Turbo....She had been in R&D for the last 6 months having all kinds of custom performance work done to transform this Audi into a dyno tested 700hp drag car....When I arrived the passenger side CF was removed because the modified ECU had not arrived yet. This Audi R8 was full of RDS's and Swirls'O plenty from being wrenched and wiped on to achieve this hp transformation..

Before shot of paint to be corrected

Correction was completely achieved using M105, M205, M21 and various pads with the Rotary and D/A

Here is a little teaser of this monster of an R8

    More photo's to follow......stay tuned....

    Thanks

So the fun begins.........Here are some before shots.

Engine bay get a detail, just check out those blow off valves/

All this area was detailed for the new ECU that was to be installed and appropriate areas covered.

Some heavy grime build up in the seams

      Wash and prep begins

Surface evaluation after cleaning, here we expose all the paint scratches and holograms that require correction

ECU area all cleaned and ready for installation..

Claying the rear was a chore, tons of contaminants in the rear ducts
      .

What a difference a nice prep does to a neglected finish.

PCXP D/A polishing of the hood area with M205 and W8006

Had to shift indoors for my application of M21 as the sun started to set and it was getting damp.

Working my way around with the M21 as you can see the sealant laying down.

      Some after shots...

      Interior Shot dialed up.

      Finished engine shots...

      Some last final photos....

      Thank you for viewing!

          Nice work!

That Audi was pretty beaten up for such a nice car but you got that black paint looking like it should.

Awesome detail. Also, the owner of that shop has an amazing story to tell, if he hasn't told you already.

An amazing job with 21, much related to your prep work I'm sure!

The kneeling board is interesting. I lost my sense of balance a few years ago. That handle would save a few asphalt face plants.

Again, awesome job. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome work on that car. Looks great!

I would also be interested in knowing where you found that knee pad? That could come in handy for me.

LOL, you've certainly generated some interest in that knee cushion David!

There seems to be more interest in that than in the car or your detail!

I was going to ask what that thing with the handle was, but everyone has already answered that question for me. Car looks gorgeous! The welds and engine work look great too.

Thank you Mike, for your kind words .....This knee pad in question is one of my new go to tools. I got tired of those cheap gardening pads at the local hardware store that either crumble or launch off the trailer and on the highway. I ran across a gentleman in my dealings who manufactures them, he asked me if I would like to distribute them. So since I have had such a tremendous inquiry from other.....painters, mechanics, detailers...I decided to take on the line. They are Rock Solid and allow either one or two knee's to rest comfortably on the pad and the dimensions are L = 17.875" x W = 5.125" x H = 15.25". The handle is awesome as a prop up to get you back on your feet again.....

wifpd4 thank you for the compliments, I appreciate them! This knee board is definitely what the doctor would order if you ever did have a face plant. It sure is a nice comfortable and steady platform to kneel on, and still be able to get up with a sense of balance....thanks again!
