  • WaxWorks: 2010 Nissan Altima

I detailed this 2010 Nissan Altima today. The only vehicles I detail on Sunday are my own, but today I made an exception, as it was the only that my client could have it done due to her work schedule.

The weather was really crappy... It started raining heavily around 5:30 AM and continued to rain until 2:00 PM. I worked at the firehouse for the night tour and got off duty at 8:00 AM, got home a little after 8:15 and started working on this car. My neighbors are used to seeing me wash cars in the rain... but the people turning onto and driving on my street looked at me like I had two heads...

I washed the car in the rain using Zep Blue Marvel car wash soap via the two bucket method. The tires, wheels wheelwells and engine compartment were cleaned with Zep Citrus cleaner at various dilutions. I then clayed the car using a fresh solution of Blue Marvel and pulled it onto the garage.

I dried the car using an Absorber synthetic chamois followed by waffle weave microfiber drying towels. for the engine compartment, I used my Toro leaf blower Craftsmean wet/dry vac. Utilizing a couple of straws taped together an inserted into the crevice nozzle, I was able to remove the water in the nooks and crannies that blow drying with the leaf blower doesn't seem to get.

After taping the car, I did a small section to see what product combo would be best. Once again, I chose the Meguiar's 105/205 via PC and Griot's 3" RO and Lake Country foam cutting and polishing pads.

After compounding and polishing, I did some touch up paint work on a few deep scratches and dings using microbrushes and took a break for lunch while the touch up paint dried.

I then applied Meg's #21 synthetic sealant via PC and Griot's RO using Lake Country and Griots finishing pads.
Wheels were treated with Meg's #21, tires were treated with Stoners More Shine. The exhaust tips were cleaned with Meg's Gold Glass metal polish.

Glass was cleaned with Stoners invisible glass, exterior glass was treated with RainX.
The interior was clean and just needed some light vacuuming; the surfaces were lightly cleaned with Meg's Interior QD.

Lo and behold.. it stopped raining and the sun came out!
    Here are the after shots...

      Looks great Gonz!

You really do a nice organized job on all the vehicles you detail.

You must be tired after working two jobs though.
