  • 2002 BMW 745Li Detailed by ShineTech Auto Detailing

    Hey guys,
A couple of weeks ago I worked on this silver 745. It's a 2002 and I don't believe the paint has ever been properly polished out. Some type of protection was on it not sure what but it had to be removed completely in order for me to see the true condition of the paint.

This is right before I gave it it's first wash. The wheels were in bad shape along with the headlights.

So I began with the wheels, tires and wheel wells.

I rinsed the car down to get any loose dirt off

A second wash removed any wax/sealants it may have had.

Once the car was dried off I was able to easily see more of the paint defects and scratches that may have been covered up

Bonded contaminants was all over the paint and glass

    50/50

More defects under the light. Especially on light colored cars I like to work in the dark with one 500w lamp or smaller to be able to better see the defects and see my progress

There was a pretty good key scratch on the passenger side door that I was able to minimize

    After

The tail lights had some bad swirls that needed to be taken care of as well

Trim needed to be brought back to life as well 50/50

Headlights were in bad shape and I did my best to try and clear these up

Hood emblem also in bad shape

    Replaced

It was a cloudy day so I tried to get the best sun pics I could

Interior was a simple wipedown and vacuum. This customer also has a BMW X5 that is in worst shape. We've scheduled a detail on that for later in the month. I look forward to that one as well. Thanks for viewing.

Looks excellent Jesse. Very fine quality work as usual.

That clay was nasty, with that type of fallout the paint had to be feeling very rough.

Thank you Aris and Nick. I actually switched out to the aggressive red clay soon after taking that picture. It was just that bad.

Thank you Haynchild. I went with 105/205 on the DA and the 7006 burgandy pad, 8006 yellow pad and 9006 for the Ultimate paste wax.

Thanks Zeta detail. I used Sonax Full Effect on the wheels. Mainly Meguiars products is what I used. I topped it with Ultimate paste wax.

Thanks Ronnie Jay. I replaced the emblem with a new one. It was too far gone to do anything with the old one.

Nice Work Jesse, I'm sure they can't wait for you to take care of their X5!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                  I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                  Remove swirls my friends.
