I have neglected my wife's car, but this weekend I gave it some much needed care. We have an 8 yer old who sits in the back, but she picks up a kid or two each day after school. Needless to saw, the interior was a little dirty, but the exterior needed some work too. Some things, I could correct, other things like water etching and road rash I couldn't buff out.

Tools and Supplies Used (all Meguiars):

    Gold Wash
    Mild Clay
    M80 on W8006
    ColorX on W8006
    M21 Synthetic Sealant
    NXT Wax

    Super Degreaser for wheels
    M40 Vinyl Conditioner on interior

    before/after shots

couldn't quite get everything out; probably needs some touch up paint and/or sanding

that is my chrome wheel on my truck in the reflection

    dirt in the cracks

    detailing brush comes in handy

    much better

Unfortunately there is some water etching that I couldn't do anything about...it's pretty much all over the car, but you can't quite see it unless you look at the perfect angle with the light.

Don't have any day time pics since it was dark by the time I finished, but you get the idea.

Wife was very pleased with the results...I was explaining the process to her, but she really cared more about the nice fragrances from the products

Great job! The paint looks very glossy now! Nice banner too.

Nicely done. Like the door handle photo, very representative of your hard work.

Thank you for the compliments!! Swirls were difficult to capture on camera and detect with the color of the car and available lighting. I really need to get some better lighting. Couple of passes of M80 worked wonders for the swirls.

Nice work all around - the car looks as it should once again (save for those nasty, deeply etched water marks). One thing we don't quite understand though - you have a rare and highly coveted Meguiar's banner hanging in your garage yet you had a neglected car. Sort of makes us go hmmmm......

Actually, my wife had the neglected car.... I know, I know...it is shameful, but I am redeeming myself.

Actually, it's been real difficult to keep up the motivation last couple of years since we've had the severe heat/drought. I'm having to go to the car wash in the city just to use the water sprayer because we are on well water (out of city limits). Even though it's not mandatory restriction, they do emphasize restricting water to only essential needs. I fill up my grit guard bucket with water and take everything with me so I can wash it there with the city water. Not very fun detailing in 110+ degrees in the garage.

My plan is to try and test spot the etching to see if I can even do anything about it. Then go from there and work a little at a time if I see some progress. I know that is going to be time intensive. Thank you for the compliments!
