A new toy
A new detailing adventure
A new way to deplete my Meguiar's stock

Well, I took delivery of Bumblebee 20th Dec, 2013 just before Christmas. The best Christmas present to myself haha
Because it was a new car, my usual "Ultimate" detailing session was cut short because it was quite literally - fresh out of the factory with a Date of Manufacture sticker of 29th September 2013, so 2 and a bit months from Normandy, France ->>> Melbourne, Australia I thought was a massive logistical effort, not to mention getting me to drive it out the door in late Dec!
Anyway, on the to specifics:
Wash:
- Meguiar's NXT Generation car wash, triple bucket method (overkill for a new car) with my trusty Meguiar's Lambswool Mitt
- Meguiar's Detailer Wheel Brightener D14001 (again...overkill but what the heck!)
- High pressure hose down
Prep:
- Meguiar's Mirror Glass Detailing Clay (Light) with Meguiar's Lash Touch Spray Detailer D15501 1:1 ratio as lub
- Because it was a daily driver & fresh paint, I wasn't going to bother with any type of polish
Interior Decorating:
- Meguiar's Detailer APC D10101 the whole interior, even though there was a STRONG new car smell lol
- Meguiar's Detailer Glass Cleaner D12001 - finger prints were all over in and out of the car from the dealership
- Meguiar's Ulimate Protectant for the interior dash
- Meguiar's Gold Class Leather Cleaner/Conditioner for the front and rear seats. This baby took be eons as I really had let the product work into the new leather. There were production stains that I was very pev-ed off about too so I spent lots of TLC with APC to remove
Wax/Exterior Decorating:
- Meguiar's Utimate Wax -> what else is there? Seriously? 2 even, thin coatings of this stuff made me all feeling warm and fuzzy.
- Meguiar's Endurance Gel using a paint brush and some OCD nature of sort
- Meguiar's Quik Wax as LSP just in case my 2 even coatings were a tad dash
And here's the end result.

My friend had borrowed my proper camera, so I had to stick with my compacter.
I want to take some shots in the sun, but all you could see was ultra bright metal yellow.
This colour is truly unique to Renault, and at some angles, you can really see tinges of Green. It's a brilliant, vibrant colour and really stands out even in a crowd of taxi's and other standard "yellow" cars.
Unfortunately you can't it's true beauty on any camera - only something the eye can see in person, so clouds and overcast photos it will have to be, for now.
Now...
Daily Driver Analysis so far...
- I need to find a thin enough brush to clean my red brake calipers properly. Elbow grease ain't gonna cut it as I need to clean right through
- I find with ze german Dunlop Sport Maxx - they are much more softer than the ones Made in Australia, so the rubber tends to grip the road like hell, diminishing my Endurance Tyre Gel at a faster rate than normal
- I'm getting used to using Meguiar's Wash & Wax Anywhere, a new product for our market. Using it every 2 days with a host of microfibres definitely satisfies my showroom shine cravings. Everytime I touch the paint, it's silky smooth like glass. Oh yea...car crazy syndrome.
- This colour is very difficult to work with in terms of knowing what has been covered. I need Meguiar's to invent some detailing glasses that display what areas of the paint I have covered. Having perfect lighting is for the perfect world, and well, I'm not in the that so it is truly difficult when waxing, especially now that most wax products dry clear (which is gr8). I'm sure we're all used to knowing what area we have covered, but I think special detailing glasses would help hehehe.
The lighting is a combo of florescents and daytime brightness. Of course I have stands with high wattage halogens, but I prefer not using them as summer temperature reach up to 44 degrees. Using high wattage halogens would be a royal mistake even the Queen's army would say NO.
I guess I'll research into some LED yellow lighting...
