Although this product was tested and designed for un-coated & painted trailer surfaces, we don't see any issue with using it for that application davey.

Hi Nick,

Would you recommend this product as the best approach for protecting a vehicle hitch? Only recommendations I've seen on the web tend to be grease, WD40 or fluid film. I know all of these powder coated hitches eventually rust but I'd like to delay that as much as possible given I have a brand new hitch installed. I see very little discussed about this product.

We did not design or safety test this product to be used directly on the trailer hitch ball (or any other apparatus where the tow vehicle connects to the trailer), so do not recommend it for this use if that is what you are referring to. However, as long as you do not spray it directly on the ball or any other apparatus where the tow vehicle connects to the trailer, it should work great to add protection.

Thanks Nick - intent is to spray primarily around/inside the receiver area as that is what really starts rusting out after 2-3 years typically. We only use the hitch for bike racks and keep plugged with a cover when not in use, thus not using a hitch ball. I think taking the rack in and out over time is taking off the powder coating and leaving bare metal inside which eventually starts rusting. Do you think this product will help in this case? Also, I noted it appears the product is discontinued? Hopefully can find somewhere if you think it may work as I suspect should last quite a few years given the small surface area.
