I have used the UP followed by NXT 2.0 with good results,but would i get a better finish with the UW?

All things equal, on a well prepped (clay/clean/polish) paint, the difference between UW and NXT 2.0 would be almost impossible to see... A big factor to also consider would be the color of the paint. UW has better depth and has crisper reflections than NXT 2.0, but NXT 2.0 does work real well on light colored (silvers, beige metallics) by giving slightly brighter, almost candy coated look. Again, to realy see the difference, you'd have to look real hard to see any noticeable difference.

Just used UP on my wife's 2013 Dodge Journey -- 2 months old with some very fine swirls. UP removed those swirls very nicely.
Clayed, UP with a PC7424xp / 5.5 white LC CCS pad, topped off with ULW by hand (horribly cloudy day and a huge pic -- sorry):

so, the perfect usage on a not-so-perfect paint would be Ultimate Compound > Ultimate Polish > a wax?
should Meg's M07 added somewhere between?

You are correct. I have used M7 after that process and I applied a coat of M26 to lock in the glaze.

reading a lot that it's waste of product if used both: Ultimate Polish and M7, since UP has a lot of oils in it. am i wrong?
just don't want to buy smth i don't need, as i want to make this all on a budget

^ Personally, I would not apply both UP and M7.
It's either UP or M7. The difference is that UP has some abrasives and M7 does not.
If you want a polish with a little cut, you go with UP. If you want a pure polish with no cut, you go with M7.

UP is very mild so depending on the paint and the defect, you may need something stronger.

yes, my route will be Ultimate Compound, then Ultimate Polish, then a wax or sealant.

Almost ten years since the last post on this thread, but 2013 is my tenth year as a professional after a hiatus starting in 2002.

I had been using M02, and M09 on a rotary. Im 2011 I bought a Porter Cable 7424xp. It sat in the box because if I wasn't using the rotary, I was using th El cheapo 6" orbital from the parts store. I was using various Turtle Wax Products with it. But I had picked up Ultimate Compound, and SwirlX in 2010. In 2011 I picked up Ultimate Polish, and Ultimate Wax.

Come spring of 2013 I started getting asked to do jobs for pay. Because of the fourms back then I was doing a lot of research and saw that the Porter Cable was a very popular polisher, and decided to enter the game again with it instead of the rotary. I picked up some Hex Logoc pads. Green for UC, Blue for SwirlX/UP, and red for ULW, and I was off. I later picked up some black pads for ColorX, and I was off to the races.

In the years that have transpired, it was the Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish that got the most use. M100, and M205 a close 2nd.

Then I bought some Menzerna and Rupes polishes. I branched out. In 2018 I picked up some 3D, and in 2020 I bought SEVERAL polish lines to try at my new part time gig. Summer of 2021 I got attached to Optimum.

Yesterday afternoon, as I contemplated how I wanted to proceed and take my business to the next level, I got out my test door, my Porter Cable, my green and blue Hex Logic pads, and my trusty Ultimate Twins. I experienced a LOT of joy, and happiness through the activity. Numerous "what the hell, man" at how efficiently these products worked, and the stunning gloss Ultimate Polish left behind. I longed for the simplicity I had in 2013, especially considering what we've all gone through since 2020. I've been up since 2am because I can't believe that after all of this I want to go back to square one, I want to start over again with my core line I had in 2013, I want to come home..

Ultimate Polish and I had been together more than any other Polish, aside from maybe 3D ONE. But I always got more milage out of Ultimate Polish. The only thing that put 3D ONE over was lack of oils and no staining of trim. Ultimate Polish always finished better, wiped off easier, smelled WAY better, and 3D ONE smells fantastic!, and Ultimate Polish cut enough for what I needed it to do.

Summarized approaches:

In a "one step" application, it's four small drops (reload two) on a green Hex Logic pad and speed 4.5 on the Potter Cable 7424xp. Two to four passes, no to low pressure. Wipe off. Done.

in a finishing/jewling application, it's four small drops on a blue Hex Logic pad, and speed 3 - 4, whatever it takes to just get the pad to spin consistently. Two passes. Wipe off. Done.

This is my testimonial of the Ultimate Polish. I have just as many positive things to say about Ultimate Compound too, but I've taken up enough space here. I wanted to leave a remark before the year ended. I've been on tour with my band The Lion Within from late spring to October, we were our support for former Saving Abel frontman, Scotty Austin. I've been so busy that I forgot about my ten year anniversary!

PS:
Sometimes Ultimate Polish will stick to the paint like cement. To remove it and reduce the likelihood of future occurance:

1. Shake that bottle for a good thirty seconds or more.

2. Apply a dot to the pad, and run it over the deposit. It should take it off, might take to go for a second time. You may even find you need to shake up the bottle a couple more times, but it's well worth the effort.
