  • Cracked #83 Bottle

I cracked my #83 bottle this morning and it's leaking out badly if I hold it right side up. What can I do to stop the leak? It still has 90% of product in it too

Do you have anymore bottles? If so, clean it out and transfer the product into another bottle. If not, just go buy a bottle from Wal Mart or Target and transfer it over.

I've used Duct Tape to seal a crack until I could transfer to a different bottle, usually I have an empty or mostly empty bottle of the same product to fall back on.

Call Customer Care and let them know what happened, they might have a solution.

This may sound stupid. But for just these types of emergencies, I went to the dollar store and bought a couple of there disposable plastic ware tubs. This way if I do not have a extra bottle handy. I can safely transfer the product in a sealed container. I can use it from there or if its a product for a spray bottle, its safe until I can get a replacement.

I have a hard time finding the bigger bottle of QD and one day I stepped on it (I buy two smaller bottles and transfer to the bigger one). I was almost finished with it and I laid it on it's side and cleaned the surface and sealed it with Auto Goop. I let it dry overnight and it worked like a charm, to this day!

            Or....

            Transfer to another bottle

I ran out of 83 and plan on keeping the bottle (32oz).

Becareful with the type of plastic bottles you use to store polishes. Always choose a HDPE bottle compared to a LDPE one. LDPE will let solvent leech out and alter the polishes characteristics while at the same time letting air in to cause molds. So far I only know that M80 is the only polish that is not affected by LDPE plastics.

I just had a bottle of the Hot Shine break on me the other day and it ruined like five of my shirts in my closet.

I had just washed my car and stuff and had to leave right away so I put the bottle on my top shelf of my closet (I keep all my stuff inside) and somehow I found a puddle on that shelf later in the day. Bottle cracked on the bottom right on the seam. Needless to say, it ruined all my shirts unless somebody knows how to remove this stuff from them?

Don't know but I'll send the link to this to Customer Care, maybe they've come across this in the past and might have some insight.

Try to use Dish Soap put a bead on it and work it in and let soak a moment then wash.

                      invertalon,
Sorry to hear about your accident. When cleaning anything the most important question is, "What material/surface am I cleaning?" You are not cleaning Hot Shine you are cleaning the clothing stained by Hot Shine. So the best solution in this case is whatever you normally use to remove stains from clothing. Shout is a popular brand of stain remover that seems to work well for many people. Of course you need to make sure any product you use is safe on the type of material the shirt is made of (cotton, polyester, rayon, silk, etc.). You would be surprised what you can accomplish yourself at home, but you also have the option of taking the shirts to a professional dry cleaner. We are not experts in clothing but I would be surprised if the shirts were irreparably damaged.
