  • M135 or Wash?

I've used 135 immediately after a complete detail with fantastic results. However, I've never used it without at least a thorough wash beforehand.

Last weekend I did a complete detail on my daily driver black Accord. Over a 7 day period, it collected a fair amount of dust and got rained on yesterday. So, now I've got a very light coating of mud on the paint. Since I spent all day getting rid of swirls last weekend, I'm not anxious to put them back into the paint.

So, what would you guys suggest? A Gold Class wash and then 135 or take the risk with 135 alone. I can't even bring myself to do a test spot with the 135 for fear of the resultant insta-swirls. Black Honda paint is REAL finicky!

    If you dont know.. wash.

I'd say if it has been more than 1 day for a daily driver, wash.

I haven't washed my car completely in about 5 months or so. I QD every 1, 2, or 3 days.

I think you should just make the best decision, for how you feel about it.

I've never really had "mud," on my car, so I don't know about that one.

For me the key word in your post was mud. Then its time to wash. Any qd type of product is best used for light dust, smudges and fingerprints. Anything else it is time to wash.

True statement. I also recommend a wash.

Well, I'm glad I washed first. Even though the paint had only a very thin coating of "wetted dust", I was amazed at what came out in the rinse bucket. A good Gold Class wash and then M135 and my baby's shinin' (and swirl free) again. Thanks for the input, guys. I really appreciate it.

No problem, good choice in plan. Enjoy and thanks for the update!

Mud or "wetted dust" as you call it, is the key word. You need a regular hose and (two or three) bucket wash. If you are going to use QD to avoid washing, you need to use it every day or two. And once it rains you need to have a regular wash.

The #135 is a great QD BTW. Reminds me of UQD, maybe even better.

I agree. And the M135 is the professional line of the UQD if i am not mistaken. The smells are different.

                    Re: M135 or Wash?

If you go more than 2 days of "daily driving" I would suggest at least first hitting the paint with a round of 100% Last Touch, and THEN finish with a round of UQD. It's one hell of a 1-2 punch.

(In this case though, with mud etc, the wash is the way to go)
