  • M105 & UC - Very Runny - Gone bad? Life?

    Hi

I have some M105 and UC.

They are both now VERY runny. I don't remember them being this runny. When you put it on your polishing pad, they want to run off.

Have they gone bad? What is the shelf life normally then as obviously these products have not been around a long time.

    Thanks!

Were they exposed to any cold temps?

No, they have been in my home which is about 72 degrees year round. Maybe they have been in a bit of warm, outside, for a few minutes while working, but I always take them back in.

Have you shaken them up thoroughly?

Generally speaking our products will have a 3 to 5 year shelf life, unless they are exposed to temperature extremes. A single freeze/thaw will generally do them in, but heat exposure usually needs to be more of an extended term thing - like sitting in the trunk of your car for a few weeks in the middle of a hot summer.

Yes, I actually not only tried shaking them today, but I shake them just randomly when I am sorting through my supplies.

          It's quite odd.

However, you can confirm M105 is not normally so runny that it would run off the pad like a liquid?

          Thank you!

That's what happened to my UC before winter hit, and after standing in my garage during winter it became like water lol even the temp wasn't below freezing.

Neither M105 nor any of our other liquid paint cleaners, polishes, compounds or waxes should be watery - they all should have the consistency of a hand lotion at least. The only products that should be water like in viscosity are those designed to be sprayed from bottle - things like wheel cleaners, quick detail products, glass cleaners, all purpose cleaners, degreasers, etc.

Maybe he could pour the contents of his "runny" 105 into a spray bottle

I tossed a couple of bottles of UC because of the runny consistency. Both were bought last fall, one was tossed about a month later, the other one was tossed shortly after. I bought 1 new one last week and they're much better. I was going to exchange/return them through Meg's but it was easier to just replace them. Was there a bad lot of UC? I've read quite a few posts about the runny-ness...

I actually had Meguiars replace two bottles of UC that I purchased for the same issue. Product was stored inside and had no drastic temp changes.

Customer service was excellent as always...sent me new bottles with no questions....

That would be Ultimate Spray Compound....... but I'm not allowed to comment on products currently in R&D.

And, yes, I'm making that up as I go along.

In all seriousness, mb911, if you have fairly new bottles of product that have been stored away from temperature extremes and they are separating, please call our Customer Care Center at 800.347.5700 and talk to them about it. If you can have the batch code from the bottles handy that would be great!

Yeah, it was my own laziness that got to me... I knew that Megs would replace them, but after a few months of them sitting on my counter I lost interest in doing the exchange. Figured I'd give Megs some more money...

Thanks, Yes, they were just around 1 year old and kept in 72 degrees climate controlled area.

Nevertheless, I instead purchased me some new bottles and threw those out.

If it happens again, I'll call customer service.

Now I got my M205 out today.

It was fairly runny, but not too bad.

It's a year old or less.

Is m205 much thinner than M105 though?

I think it was normal, but want to double check. Thanks.
