  • New car Prep w/M205?

    Guys,

I just bought a new silver car and will receive tomorrow and want to try the M205 using my G-110. My question is, if the paint has no swirls or scratches, should I use a speed of maybe 3 since I'm not trying to
correct anything just prepping the surface for NXT. I have some M09 and my M205 will probably not arrive until Thursday, should I wait for the M205 or use the M09?

    Thanks,
    Wig

Most "new cars" I have seen have some sort of light swirls in them. M205 will probably leave a little better finish, be easier to work with, give you a deeper gloss, and more of a wet look than M09. M09 will still remove light swirls (BTW is will be hard to see them in the paint), but it is really up to you if you want to wait for your 205.

If it were me, I would use M09 just to clean up my light swirls and then wax my car with NXT. Once my 205 arrived I would then use that, but like its just a personal preference.

      Andrew,

Thanks for your reply! If I prepped it with the M09 and NXT, would the M205 strip off the NXT? Also what speed would you recommend if the paint has light swirls? I don't want my wife to say didn't you prep the finish w/ M09 and NXT last week and you have to do it again w/M205!

I'm excited about this new product and can't wait to get it on my 2010 G37 Sedan Infiniti. This will be my first experience with 105/205 combo, I still have some M80 as well.

      Thanks,
      Wig

The best thing you could do is NOT let the dealership wash the vehicle (for sure they are going to scratch it up a bit). Then I would wash it myself with a 2 bucket method, clay it, remove scratches and swirls with 205, then wax.

First off...great choice on the car...that's sick car!

Yes you would strip all the wax off because 205 is a polishing abrasive...

Since it is a new car I would start using the G110 on speed 3-4...if you do not see any profound results, go up to speed 5. Part or prepping the finishing would be, washing the car, claying it, possibility passing 105 to remove defects and then apply 205 of m09. Personally, when 205 arrives I would do it again and then just apply NXT on top of 205 after you used M09.

            Re: New car Prep w/M205?

Thanks for the help guys! The car will be delivered in 5 hours and I have instructed the dealer not to prep. I sold my 08 BMW for the Infiniti because the wife can not drive a six speed and it has 328HP...

I'll probably wait until next weekend to prep with the 205 and NXT.

            Thanks,

What can I use to remove the hard water spots from under the Hood? Looks like the delaer in AZ sprayed down to engine to probably dust.

But, the detail will begin next Saturday after I receive my ADS order of M105/205 and other goodies.

                  Thanks,

On the paint, or on the plastic coverings, etc?

It's on the plastic, rubber hoses and aluminum parts under the hood.

                      Thanks,

Congrats on your new car. That is a sweet ride.
I would give it a good wash, then clay. Assess from there how it looks.

Here are some pics of the detail I did with M205 w/a G110 at speed 3 and two coats of NXT 2.0. The paint looks very wet for a silver vehicle, thanks for all of your help and suggestions.
