  • Does Last Touch Have Fillers?

    Hi everyone,

I'm currently detailing a black MB E430 and it has A TON of swirls. The body shop misused their rotary polisher causing buffer trails throughout the entire car. This morning, I proceeded to clay the entire car using OTC clay and last touch as my lubricant. After claying the entire car, I can barely see the swirls!!! So I got some 70% isoprophyl alcohol and wiped down 3 panels. Low and behold, the swirls can now be seen.

Does the Meg's detailer last touch have some fillers in it? Why did it hide the swirl marks?

    Thanks!

Yes! I think it does. At least up to a point.

I doubt it since it does not leave any protection on the paint.

One time I used it on my daughter car after a wash which has not seen any wax for years . It did improve the finish and it beaded water for 2 weeks . It left something on the paint.

It leaves behind something on the paint, which is why it isn't deemed body shop safe. I found in some cases that using it as clay lube prevented painters tape from sticking to the car. Might be the same idea with the fillers since that effect also made my polishing limited for the first pass since it would "glide" on the stuff left behind by Last Touch

Yeah, not sure if it's fillers but it has something that adds Gloss/Depth to the paint that separates it from QD.

These points are spot on. While the intent of this product is not just to be a filler, certain ingredients found in many, many products will do just that.

When you're talking about a wax or sealant, just by simple virtue of the fact you are leaving something behind (that's sort of the whole point with a sealant or wax, right?) means you will fill to some degree. Most mist & wipe products tend to do the same thing, sometimes to a lesser degree, sometimes to a higher degree - sort of depends on which mist & wipe you're comparing to which wax/sealant. Of all the mist & wipe products Meguiar's makes, only M34 Final Inspection is a body shop safe product, meaning its use in a body shop environment won't create issues when spraying fresh paint.

Hi everyone! Thanks for the responses!! Now at least I know that Last Touch covers up some swirls. I know it's too late for pictures now but I just wanted to share:
