  • Difference between M21 old and new?

I'm just about empty on a jug of old M21 and have a 16oz new M21 ready to go. Any difference in application, shine, longevity? The old had a lot of water sweat out when applying, does the new do the same?

I have not noticed the watery part. To me the big difference is the hydrophobic properties in the new version. It sheets off the water fantastically.

      So no beading?

Will still bead if the rain is light enough.

In my experience. it beads initially. Then sheets off. Always amazes people.

I was always told when it stops beading it's worn off.

Mine kinda is, but shake it well before using it and it'll be fine. Except for its hydrophobic everything else looks the same

What about durability? Does the new version last longer?

Beading gives way to sheeting, indicating its presence protecting, so I wouldn't use beading as a durability guide. When water starts to pool, then it's gone.

Well yeah if the water makes a puddle on the panel, but if it is actually sheeting off of the car, then that definitely means there is still M21 on there pushing that water off the car!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                  I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                  Remove swirls my friends.

                    Beading and sheeting are different.

Too many place an emphasis on beading and ignore the sheeting properties as evidence of a wax/sealants presence.

What needs to be observed is water pooling as evidence of a LSP's death, not lack of beading.

I have not noticed any perceptible difference. Still is protecting when I wax her again.
