I take it you mean m101 ? We tried both old and new formula 105 and found that m101 with Chris at the controls actually took out a few 500#grit sanding marks.

I was wondering if anyone would pick up on that. I mixed M105 and M205 together = M310 ROFL

I thought I would add the link here for the test done by Garry Dean of M101 vs M105.

        Enjoy!

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

I feel that M101 has more cut, longer work time, much cleaner to work with and finishes much nicer etc..to name a few.
I use M101 with Lake Country Orange pads and have obtained excellent results. I'm glad M101 finally made it to the US.

For some folks the smaller bottles like M105 and M205 are the excellent consumer size...I am looking for M101 in Gallons.

What is the recommended cutting pads? Megs burgundy, LC orange....soo many brands. I suppose every kind of cutting pad would provide a variety of cutting ability?

I've been using the LC Orange with good success.

                  Re: New M101 Compound??????????

I suggest you don't just try to match megs product and megs pad. I suggest you wait for each car and use a test spot. I know you guys know what a test spot is so I won't explain that, but from my use of this product I have found that various paints like different combos. For example my CC loves DAMF with all other products, but when I used yellow foam pad on the hood I had much more progress on swirls. I used the DAMF system with M101 and thought it cut extremely well so I was shocked when the yellow foam pad did an even better job. However my wifes pilot which loves foam pad, the DAMF and M101 did a much better job. Then I have an C63 Merc that is a regular and the foam works best with other products and M101. Then you can get into mixing the M101 with D300 or M105. Just saying try to create a 1 off product match as it will suit the vehicle nicely. I just sent Marc a bottle so maybe he will post up soon with his review and use. Plus his documenting skills are much better than mine.

The Lake Country yellow is the only yellow foam pad I've used.
I didn't care for it and have never used another LC yellow since.

On the other hand, the LC orange pads are my go-to workhorses.
LC orange is a bit course but with M101 it finishes surprisingly nice.

Well, if you know the whole story about this product, the answer is both very simple and yet rather complex. As you may know, M101 was developed specifically for the European aftermarket paint business (ie, European collision repair) where the paint used is very different from that used in the USA, and where the workflow is quite different as well. Wool pads are rarely, if ever, used in Euro collision repair as they prefer to do spot repair sanding only and then buff out with a foam cutting pad at fairly low speeds. Since we aren't going to make wholesale changes to the way they do things across the pond, we developed this compound to fit into their specific scenario. We also developed a foam cutting pad to go along with this process that is somewhat similar to our W7207 burgundy cutting pad, except that it's much smaller in diameter and the cell structure is a bit different as well. And, since the Euro guys also like a thicker, more cushioning backing plate, we developed one of those as part of this system, too. So the simple answer is to use that particular pad, the W6006 cutting pad. The problem was, and is, that we never intended to sell M101, the W6006 pad, or that backing plate in the USA since over here body shops just don't work that way.

Now, certain individuals in the USA decided they just had to try this product for themselves, not in a body shop scenario but rather in a detailing/defect correction setting. So they paid pretty serious money to buy it from overseas dealers and have it shipped back to the USA. And then they used it on a DA with microfiber pads - totally and completely outside of it's design parameters. And it worked great for them. These guys absolutely loved it, and practically begged us to release it domestically. We finally gave in and did so, knowing full well that in a body shop situation with a wool pad on the type of paints used domestically in the aftermarket, it's not the best fit. But these detailers don't seem to care, and they use it the way they want to. Fine. If it works for you, it works for you. And we're not really marketing this to body shops since products like M105 and M100 work better with wool pads on domestic aftermarket paint.

So, at the end of the day what pad should you use with this product? Well, it depends on how you're using the product. If you really are going to use a rotary buffer for spot sanding repair, then a foam cutting pad like our W7207 would be an excellent choice as it's the closest thing you find to the W6006. If you're going to use it on a DA, then the possibilities are limited only to your imagination. Obviously results are going to vary, and they could vary widely since you'll be using M101 in a way it was never designed to be used, on paint it was never designed to be used on. And yet, it seems to work beautifully with microfiber pads on a DA, which seems to be the most popular use for M101 domesticallly.
