  • What's in the future for Medallion Premium Paint Protectant?

Now that we have NXT, is there anything that MPPP does that another Meguiar's product doesn't do better, including move off the shelves?

Now, MPPC, that's one of the finest paint cleaners around. But, why MPPP?

I sure hope they will continue the MPPP...I plan on using it as much as possible.

Sometimes, I think the Medallion line of products should be marketed as a consumer product, instead of in the pro line.

Course, MPPP's price tag would probably turn off the Turtle Wax type of folks.

Some folks will want to keep using MPPP just because the bottle has more "class" than the funky NXT bottle.

        Yes, I agree!

MPPP's black bottle is unique...It makes for a good collector's item too.

I just noticed that MPPP is one of their best sellers.

Do you think? I know it says so on the website, but they just had a 3 month run on it as a package deal. It might be a bestseller for internet orders, but how is it compared to the big box store items, and #6, #20, #26, etc? I'd be surprised if it outsold #16.

I like it, too, and have a couple bottles of it. I'm wondering out loud in a place where my musing might get answered.

I haven’t heard anything about Meguiar’s discontinuing Medallion, but will check into it and be sure to let you know if it is.

It is in the pro line so that is why you don’t see it next to NXT on she shelves and it is a little harder to find.

              I like it too!

Medallion has always seemed to be the odd duck in their product line. I remember getting a pre-release bottle of it back in 1991 or 92, I can't recall when it was launched. Meguiar's promoted it as their most durable wax which had the ability to minimize dust attraction.

When it hit stores it was $20/bottle which was very steep for a retail product. I used to upsell customers from my normal wax (#6) which worked pretty well, especially for owners of black cars. At the time I had a 5.0 Mustang with a single stage black paint job that I used Medallion on so upselling was pretty easy for me. But I can see how your typical Pep Boys customer would balk at the price.

I know Meguiar's has reformulated Medallion at least twice. In the meantime Gold Class came out, supported with a ton of advertising and a large co-branded product line which Medallion doesn't have. So it appears Medallion no longer has a place in their retail product line. I imagine it will be safe in their pro detailers/bodyshop line but I'd be interested in what Meguiar's Corporate has to say about it. Medallion was always one of my favorite Meguiar's products. It's too bad it never took off with consumers.
