  • First wash with NXT wash!

I was going to wait until I ran out of my old bottle of Trak Auto car wash, but I couldn't let the NXT wash sit any longer. Last night I washed the car with it, and it really does make a difference. The car was much easier to wipe down with the chamois afterwards, and there was no streaking. One swipe of the chamois and it was DRY!

I also discovered something else. For some reason, when I use NXT wax on my car I get an "uneven" shine. Meaning, you can tell where the wax went on thicker or thinner. This goes away with a second coat, but last night I didn't have time for another coat, so instead I misted the uneven areas with the NXT spray booster wax, and voila! That evens the shine out too, perhaps even better than the second coat does.

So from now on I think I'm going to "top" the NXT with the NXT spray. I got LOTS of compliments on the finish at the local hangout last night.

    That's the fun part!

My old Blazer has a $800.00 dollar Macco paint job. But I keep it polished up with a coat of NXT Tech Wax and from 15 feet away the paint looks deep, dark and very glossy. With the top off, I get compliments from people wherever I take it. (Most people don't know Chevrolet made a full convertible Blazer because most people never take the tops off).

NXT Car Wash is a great car wash, it's my first choice when washing our cars. I use it with the Grit Guard in a 5-gallon bucket.

            Hi avalanche8,

Meguiar's offers the Grit Guard in their catalog, but we don't offer the bucket dolly with wheels. If you want this handy, dandy little tool, then you can purchase one here...

            I sure like mine...

Your lucky if you can find a bottle of NXT wash! I saw one at Pepboys and didnt buy it cause I still had some Deep Crystal wash....went back and it was sold! Now Target , Kragen auto or AutoZone doesnt have it! So I have to wait. here in San Francisco for a bottle!

I've used the NXT wash a couple of times. So far, so good, but I'm reserving judgment for now. I was using Meguiar's Hi Tech Wash #00 prior to NXT with great results. I'm still experimenting with the NXT wash re: how much to use in my bucket. I know the instructions say 1 ounce per gallon, but I generally use a bit less than that (something like 1 ounce in TWO gallons).

I guess my one comment on the NXT wash is that its viscosity is a bit high (e.g., it's too thick). This makes it hard to measure -- I use a measuring cup, and it's sometimes hard to get all the NXT wash out of it due to its thick, goop-like consistency.

BTW, what is the proper technique of making a bucket of car wash soap? Does one add soap to water, or water to soap? Only other car crazy people will think about this, so I must be in good company!

I would think adding water to soap so when you put the water in it mixes it up real well

water first then its eaier to judge how much water is really in the bucket instead of trying to see through a mountian of suds.

I've calibrated my bucket with hash marks every 0.5 gallon. My measuring device for car wash soap is actually a shot glass I got at the liquor store. I was buying Tequila at the time and saw it by the cash register. It has marks on it for milliliters, fractional ounces, etc. Makes adding the right amount of soap very easy. I think people use too much soap.

I generally add soap to water then mix gently so as not to generate too much suds. Unless, of course, I want a lot of suds, like this morning when I washed the WifeMobile using NXT wash. I just felt like I needed suds, so I made suds! It did a great job on the red finish of her Infiniti, btw.

How do people feel about suds anyway? Any strong opinions out there?

                          Mike,

I noticed you only have one bucket there. Do you use the two bucket method?

A Pepto Bismol dose cup works well too.
