  • NXT 2.0 durability

    Hello,

I was looking at some of the NXT 2.0 wax this morning at Autozone. Anyway's, it claims on the package that it lasts twice as long as the originial NXT. Is this true? If so, how long does one layer of the NXT 2.0 last? Could I got 6 months, or is that far too long?

There is never an answer for how long a wax will last because we have no control over the way in which the car will be treated or the environment it will be exposed to.

If after using it the product doesn't meet your expectations simply take advantage of Meguiar's Satisfaction Guarantee which is on the box and the back label.

    Preventative Maintenance
If you want your paint to always look good and be protected then instead of trying to find a wax that will last for months or a year, treat waxing your car like changing your oil, you change you oil BEFORE you need to in order to prevent wear and tear on your engine. Re-apply a coat of wax as a part of a regular maintenance schedule to insure your paint is always protected and always looks good.

Is NXT 2.0 a wax, or a sealant? What does Meguiars recommend as far as how often you have to re-apply the product?

It's in the bigger category of "Paint Protectant" which includes any product whose purpose is to protect the paint.

NXT contains all synthetic ingredients, most people categorize a product like this as a sealant and anything with Carnauba wax as a wax.

We chose to use the word "Wax" on the label because most of the world when they walk into a store to buy a car wax are going to look for a product with the word "Wax" on the label. when you start using terms like "Paint Sealant", you can confuse people. Marketing Rule #1, don't confuse your market.

As far as when to re-apply?

Meguiar's teaches people to "Evaluate the condition of your paint" and use the results from your evaluation to choose the appropriate product to achieve your goal.

        What are you working on?
What are you trying to accomplish?

Just a good coat of wax on a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe (Silver in color). I think I am going to pick up some of the NXT 2.0 and give it a shot. From what I can remember, the original NXT was super easy to apply and remove. Has this carried over to the 2.0 product? I certainly hope so!

On the Pilot when I wax it I apply NXT 2.0, as for how often... not as often as I used to because the newness of a new car has kind of worn off and we live in the desert. It's windy and dusty and right after you wash and wax your car and drive it about a mile, park for a few minutes and drive home it's all dusty again.

Just being honest. It's also 'just a transportation car' to us, it's not a show car, we use it to haul the family around and go to Costco.

My new Jimmy has a new paint job that needs to be sanded and buffed and I haven't had time to do this yet, we did clay it and wax it with ColorX the first time and since then we've applied NXT 2.0

                After ColorX

                After NXT 2.0

The paint has a lot of orange peel and dirt spec in it, so we'll likely machine sand using the Mirka Abralon system and then buff out using M105 and a cleaner/polish. After that it will be maintained using NXT 2.0 and UQD

For what it's worth, even though the paint has orange peel, wherever I drive this thing guys come over and check it out and usually say the same thing they said about the 260Z I recently sold and also buffed out and maintained with NXT and UQD and that's this,

"I haven't seen one of these things in this good of condition for a long time"

                and then they say this,

"Wow your paint looks so nice, how did you get it so shiny"

You guys really wrecked yourself with NXT 2.0, you may as well fire your R/D department because I don't see how they are going to make a better product. That stuff is awesome. I just used it for the first time today.

I thought NXT 1.0 was good, but somehow you made 2.0 leaps and bounds better than 1.0
