  • NXT 2.0 versus Carnuba

I have always used Carnuba has the final finish in my Meguiars 3 step process and love the results. However, like most people I look for the best shine and durability I can get in a product and I am very curious about this NXT 2.0 (Carnauba outlasted original NXT in my opinion) versus traditional carnuba.

Is NXT2.0 more durable the Carnuba for a vehicle that is in the weather 24/7 in the north east US?

Mind you, I am not looking for an easy on easy off product so do not consider that. Just if one is better then the other based on my question

    Thanks

NXT is a sealant/wax, something you can apply on it's own or use it before applying a glaze or carnauba wax as the LSP. The method provides added depth and gloss.

Not really looking for added depth since it's deep enough and I can't swim

Really though, not worried about working on the vehicle but adding a 4th step to an already 8-10 hour process is not what I am into. So again, is NXT 2.0 more durable then carnuba?

We have had a ton of feedback on this forum, other forums, by phone, in person that the NXT Tech Wax 2.0 was much improved on all fronts over the original Tech Wax. This includes, gloss, durability, beading etc...

We're pretty sure you will be pleased by trying Tech Wax 2.0.

I am sure others will chime in the the Tech Wax 2.0 vs original Tech Wax...

I need the best protection from the harshness nature has to give and if the chemists at Meguiars were to give a presentation on the best consumer product Meguiars has for protecting against nature, would it be NXT2.0 or Carnuba based?

            Thanks

Keep in mind, anything that lands on your paint that is strong enough or corrosive enough to harm the paint will also harm the micron thin layer of protection.

For example a bird dropping. If a bird dropping lands on your freshly waxed car, the uric acid in the bird dropping will eat past any coating of wax or paint sealant on the market.

The only sure fire way to protect the paint is to put the car in a garage and close the door.

              p.s.

If you read the article I included a link to above you'll see that we don't make a straight Carnauba wax, fact is the Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax is a blended wax. See the article for more info.

                Yep

That is why I wrote Carnuba based. I may just give NXT 2.0 a shot since scratchX improved Soo much, maybe I will be pleasantly surprised with NXT 2.0

Collinite paste 476s and 845 liquid are widely used for prolonged duribility.

Regardless of what you use, being a Carnuba or Sealant, by reading as you are here and narrowing down what "sounds" like will work for you, at some point you need to try a few to find what you like.

                  Your milage may vary.

I used Collinite 476 on my 07 Ford Explorer which sits outside and it is still beading after having been waxed in october. NXT 2.0 is my fave when it comes to looks, though. Collinite is great for durability.

I agree on 476s or 845 from collinite for durability.

Same thing for me as ajb, 2 coats of 476 on my corolla in November, lasted through whole winter and was still beading in April. I have since used a couple coats of UQW but it is getting time to polish/wax

                        Re: NXT 2.0 versus Carnuba

So is this the proper procedure:

                        1. Claybar or Pre-wax cleaner
                        2. NXT 2.0

Also, can NXT 2.0 be layered with itself and how long between layers? If I wanted to layer it with Carnuba (pure, no cleaner) is that OK and how long until I top it.

I have lots of Meguiars Quick Detailer, is it safe to use with NXT 2.0?

Meguiar's recommends two coats of NXT, or any of its waxes, to achieve uniform coverage. And you may top NXT with a carnauba of your choice. Optimal wait time between coats is 12 hours, but given time constraints, some folks wait as little as 15 to 30 minutes before applying a second coat.

                          NXT Cure Time?
How much time to wait before applying a second coat of wax?

I am going to clay bar my SRT but do I need to use polish before laying down NXT 2.0, I am worried NXt 2.0 will not bond if I use a polish prior?

                            Thanks

Are you referring to a polish (DC2, M07, etc.) or a paint cleaner (Swirl X, Ultimate Compound, etc.)?
