I read on autogeek that MOST Carnauba Waxes last 6-8 weeks. I know that it may very wax to wax but is this accurate? I'm planning on using the DC Carnauba Wax soon but I don't want to have to wax again in 6 weeks.

Re: Longevity of Carnauba Wax
If parked outside, esp in some bad weather, etc, I imagine most waxes/sealants would lose a lot of their protective ability after about 8 weeks, even if a bit is left on the surface.
Using the spray waxes along the way seems to help a lot.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Re: Longevity of Carnauba Wax
How long any wax or sealant lasts is dependent on a lot of variables. If you experience a lot of heavy rain in the spring, the same wax that lasts you three months in the later summer/early fall may only last a month during those heavy spring rains. Spend a couple of weeks on wet, salty roads in the winter and that same wax may not survive that brief period. Remember, wax is a sacrificial barrier that slowly breaks down over time.
Whether a car is kept outside 24/7 or garaged at night, or whether car is a daily driver or a weekend toy will greatly alter exposure to the elements, and exposure is a huge part of the puzzle. How well the paint is prepped prior to waxing also plays a role. If you never clay a car and it sits outside 24/7 it will accumulate a lot of bonded surface contaminants. Failure to remove these contaminants with a quick clay treatment means you're basically waxing dirt that is stuck to the paint. We don't know of anyone who makes a wax for dirt.
But 6 to 8 weeks life expectancy from a coat of carnauba wax? Probably not far off the truth.Michael Stoops

Re: Longevity of Carnauba Wax
Just to give an example of wax longevity, I bought a new truck in dec. I washed, clayed, then applied one coat of NXT 2.0, let cure for 48 hours, then one coat of DC3. I started driving it on Dec 2,09. I wash it once a week, usually every wednesday(not that that matters), then use UQW. I did wash it last night though, and the wax on the side of the truck is gone...from road salt probably. Last weeks wash, the water was still sheeting nicely off the sides. The hood is still beading nicely though. Lots of factors to longevity! There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

Re: Longevity of Carnauba Wax
In all honesty, I know 6-8 weeks sounds bad, but if I had my druthers I'd wax every four weeks max! The polishing tends to bite for me, but man, the waxing is fun. Keep in mind that I'm using the G110 for application and that by itself is fun. Also keep in mind I'm a geek.
Weekly washing (with Megs) and some UQW or UQD afterwards does go a long way in making the protection last. Be sure to keep something with you at all times to clean bird droppings and junk as they appear.
Good luck.-Scott

Re: Longevity of Carnauba Wax
I've seen #26 last about 2 months on a car that sat outside 24/7. The car was only clayed beforehand.Shane
